FitBits: Active Gaming, Fit Frisco and Healthy Men Galore

Active games burn extra cals, San Fran reigns fit, and June goes to the gents.

Get Active
This research is a bit well-duh, gee-whiz, but the Fit Bottomed Girls still find it interesting. Active gaming programs, such as Wii Fit, have been shown to increase energy expenditure (think calories burned) 156 percent above resting levels. Compare that to traditional joypad-operated games (think Nintendo 64) that increase resting values an average of 60 percent.

Not too shabby. I need to Wii bowl more.

Get your game on.

San Fran on Top
With beautiful weather, plenty of parks and steep hills, there’s no doubt that San Francisco is a good place to perfect your fit bottom. And now there’s research to prove it. A recent study named San Fran as the fittest big city for its high percentage of residents who exercise regularly, eat five or more fruits and vegetables daily, and regularly commute using public transportation, a bike or their own two legs.

With a view like that, it’s hard not to feel inspired to get out and get active (unless, of course, you’re at home burning calories on Dance Dance Revolution or something).

The San Francisco treat.

Celebrate Healthy Men
June is national Men’s Health Month. The month was created to bring awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. The Fit Bottomed Girls love to be healthy, and we want the men in our lives to be that way, too.

We may be a week or so into June, but it’s never too late for men to start being active and healthy.

Fit bottomed boys.
