Exercise TV’s Bikini Body Makeover

ExerciseTVIf you’re in a workout rut or facing personal budgetary restrictions, listen up. Exercise TV’s website has you covered. While the site has tons of workouts available for download and purchase, it also has free full-length workouts, updated monthly. Jenn has already tested a couple of Exercise TV’s online workout offerings, but I’d never done any and was eager to try them. I’m always interested in seeing what can be had for free, after all.

I, like Jenn, was pleasantly surprised when I took on the Bikini Body Makeover, a collection ofworkouts to whip you into shape from head to toe. If you’re the type that likes structure, this workout would be a great option for you. You can download the four-week workout plan, which details a schedule for the workouts. Of course, you don’t have to follow the program; I think I would be bored silly if I did the same segments over and over, so I’d take advantage of the variety available elsewhere on the site. My one complaint is that although it said there were six workouts in the program, only five were online when I tried it.

Overall, I really enjoyed all of the Bikini Body Makeover workouts. They’re each done by different instructors, so you never get tired of someone’s mug or teaching style. Plus, the site has a lot of male instructors, which is a nice change for the ladies who are used to female instructors and also nice for the guys who may prefer to be led by a dude.

I thought I had done every ab exercise in the book, but I was surprised how many new ab moves I did in the 11-minute Sexy Beach Abs segment, such as side bends from kneeling. The 20-minute Tank Top Upper Body was a challenging workout. On this one, I always got an extra rep or two because the instructor was so thorough that she’d quickly preview a new move first, and I never did catch on and rest during her demo.

The instructor of the 10-minute Cardio Sculpting segment, Steve Maresca, was one of my favorites. He had such a funny and enthusiastic approach. You get sweating in a hurry with this short workout: back to front lunges, squats, and skates back and forth. Bootcamp Calorie Burn is a 32-minute workout that is high energy and fast-paced. Be prepared for all of the bootcamp staples: jacks, squat thrusts and sprints. The instructor for this one, Kendell Hogan, is enthusiastic and awesome.

Exercise TV definitely gets a big thumbs up from me because of the sheer variety of free workouts at any given timefrom short ab-targeting segments to dance cardio workouts to Pilates. I also LOVE the on-screen countdown feature that tells you exactly how much time remains in your workout.
