HI Kat,

Your technique may be wrong and you're more than likely doing half squats. You need to squat until your hamstrings touch your calves:

hope this helps.

This was so enlightening. I'm trying to get more into weight training and do less cardio, but I still fight the fears that I will bulk up. This was a very convinvincing interview for me to read! I'll get on those squats now for sure ;)

Great interview!!
I'm so surprised about the squat being the best exercise! Usually I hear that the push up is. Also good to know that cardio before weights is a waste of time....I always jump on the treadmill before my strength training class, woops!

I like this guy. Very honest and knows what he's talking about. Do you need any help in Scotland? I'd move there and help you train clients haha.

I would love to use the squat rack but find that my back is sore afterwards and my knees hurt. What can I do to avoid this?

Great interview! I love his unique and educated opinion. That is definately not the advice/instruction you would get at any regular gym. Sometimes I feel like I am more knowledgeable about some topics than my trainer is.

I can't wait to read your review of Michael's e-book! AWESOME!

Hi Amanda! What I mean is that gymnasts tend not to do the normal sit-up and crunch style exercises that most people do. Most of their exercises are centered around rotation and stabilization, so yes they do core work for sure, but differently from most gym users.
