Marathon Training Update: I am joyously enjoying the taper. For those who haven’t put themselves through this kind of running insanity, “tapering” is just reducing mileage before race day, thereby ensuring that the ol’ frog legs are fresh, springy and ready to pound out 26.2. My taper began the week of Christmas, and it was—no offense to my loved ones ’cause your gifts rocked my world—the best gift ever. FBG Tish was in town for the holidays, and we got to run our final double-digit run together, a full 12 miles on the treadmill due to snow. Spending more than two hours on a treadmill is pretty dreadful for me, but it was all the better with my gal pal there. And she’ll be the one next to me on race day, so it was good practice for the both of us. Thankfully, we’re both pokey runners. With the race just days away (Sunday is the BIG DAY!), we now just rest, rest, rest. And get nervous. And eat carbs. And get excited. Then get nervous again. I can’t wait!
