Posh: Your Spring Workout Wardrobe

Now that the weather is warmer, it’s time to throw out those heavy workout pants and jackets and exchange them for fun, lighter wear! Below are a few fitness apparel items that recently caught our attention and think they might catch yours, too!

Girls on the Run SkirtGirls on the Run/New Balance Wear

You already know about our love and support for Girls on the Run, but did you know that there is GOTR-branded apparel out there for running? And that it’s uber cute? Hells yes. During the course of my marathon training I tried and crushed hard-core on the GOTR running skirt (pictured left) and this pair of running tights.

I cannot rave about the Bonita Skirt enough. It has reflective strips so that cars can see you, it fits snugly to prevent chafing and annoying movement when running, it’s made of moisture-wicking materials, and it has a small interior pocket for an iPod or other MP3 player. And the Go2 running tights? I ran my marathon in them, so that’s a pretty big endorsement. However, probably the best feature of the entire GOTR apparel line is that New Balance will contribute 5 percent of sales directly to Girls on the Run International. Righteous!

lucy Perfect Core PantLucy Perfect Core Pant

I’m a little obsessed with this pant. It really may be the perfect workout pant. Ever. They’re comfy, super flattering and they make you feel like a bad ass. The pant has strategically placed mesh inserts on the abs and lower-back area, which help youkeep the core engaged and your body in alignment. The inserts also smooth any little problem areas without any unsightly skin bunching. My husband even commented that my hiney looked super cute. Basically, they make you feel hot. And feeling hot is the key to looking hot.

The cut of the pants is pretty sleek and tapered with only a subtle boot cut. They hug nicely to the thighs and hip, so it’s a great pant for intense cardio, lifting, walking, spinning, the works. The only hiccup with the pants—and this probably was just a freak thing because lucy is known for quality—is that after one wash, one of the seams by my left knee tore, leaving a little pocket of my red-headed whiteness exposed to the world. It hasn’t been a big enough deal (or noticeable enough) for me to stop wearing the pants or break out the sewing kit. Probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to wash on the gentle cycle.

thriv tank

Thrivblacktankthriv Natural Performance is a new brand we hadn’t yet tried, and we’re so glad they introduced themselves. The company wanted us to give this workout tank our all and give it our most honest critique. We do that anyway, but they certainly had nothing to worry about. thrivproducts are made from eco-friendly bamboo and cotton, and the tank I tried was lightweight, super comfy and SOFT. Like, the softest tank I’ve ever tried. Soft enough to wear all the time.

Even though it’s super soft, the tank is also super tough. It wicks moisture, provides UV protection and the bamboo naturally resists odor. While it had a built-in shelf bra support, it certainly wasn’t the most supportive tank I’ve worked out in. I had no problems, but the more well-endowed Fit Bottomed Girl might want to throw on a sports bra underneath. Overall, a product I think will thriv!
