November Challenge: Honor Your Hunger

Food is great. And eating is one of life’s pleasures, especially when you’re eating exactly what you want when you’re hungry and stopping once you’re full. After all, how many of us have stuffed ourselves on something really tasty and then felt like poo for the rest of the day? Not fun! Because it’s November, and Thanksgiving will be here before we know it (I honestly can’t believe October is over!), our November SparkPeople FBG team challenge is to honor your hunger.

What does that mean exactly? Well, it’s simple. You eat when your stomach is hungry, and you stop when it’s full. It sounds easy, but over the years, many of us lose touch with our internal hunger cues and begin eating instead because it’s a certain time of the day or because someone else is eating or because your “diet” tells you to or not to or, well, just because. So this month, begin listening to your hunger—the stomach growl, the rumbley in the tumbley, whatever it is for you—and always eat when you’re hungry and stop when you are pleasantly full but not stuffed.

And the cool part of this? When you begin to honor your hunger, you begin to honor yourself and your body, too. Which is pretty darn awesome if you ask us. So, who’s in? —Jenn
