Ali Vincent: How Biggest Loser Won My Life Back—with Giveaway!

February 15, 2011 by

ali-vincent-nowI love it when I read a weight-loss story where someone really gets it. Where they admit to how difficult the process is sometimes, but they just keep going and really change their life. It’s inspiring, motivational and it continues to remind me why we should all make today the best day of our lives. Well, Ali Vincent—you may remember her as The Biggest Loser’s first female winner!—does that and more in her book Believe It, Be It: How Being the Biggest Loser Won Me Back My Life.

I had this book on my bedside table for about a month and each night before bed, I’d be excited to read a few pages. Ali goes into detail about her time at the ranch, giving you a truly behind-the-scenes peek at what goes on during the challenges and the training sessions and the workouts—all of it. She also gives you back-history on her childhood and her sometimes tumultuous relationship with her mother, Bette-Sue, who was also on the reality TV show. Ali shares what had been holding her back and what it took to go from 234 pounds to 122 pounds. Namely, it took time, self discovery, commitment, honesty, focus and an unwavering belief that if you “Believe it, you’ll be it.”

What I love most about the book is that, sure, you learn how much she worked out (a LOT) and what she ate (clean, clean foods), but you get into the mind of a champion. And a winner doesn’t just think they can win, they know that they will. There’s a huge difference in thinking about something, wanting something, and believing that you’re going to get it. Ali believed, took action and did the darn thing. And for that, we love her! She’s a true Fit Bottomed Girl role model.

If you’d like to be as inspired with this book as I was, leave a comment with why you’d like to have it on your beside table. We’ll select one random U.S. commenter to win next week! —Jenn

I would love to have this on my bedside table because we all get stuck in ruts in our lives and motivation seems to abandon us and that’s when you reach for friends, blogs and books to get you back on track. I think this would help keep me on track and give me inspiration to do more than just stay the course!

:) I’m thinking I should write a book so I can inspire others as well.

My highest weight was 275 pounds and now I am down to 130 !

I gained weight after having my son at age 16, lost the weight, gained more weight because of my fast food job, then, finally lost the weight and gained a new perspective on food.

I’m trying for 120 pounds right now and I think there are a few people out there who would enjoy reading about my journey ;)

I’d love to have Ali’s book because she not only succeeded in the controlled environment of the Biggest Loser Ranch, but she’s obviously made a successful transition back to the ‘Real World’ and still is keeping her weight down and her strength and health UP.

I’d love to be able to pick up her book whenever I need some additional inspiration or motivation, and be able to share it with people I help as well via my ‘Love Your Reflection’ personal development program.

I’m going to have to run out and buy this book. Her strength is my problem: just doing the darn thing. I know I have it in me, but the hard part is reminding myself that every day. Maybe seeing Ali on my bedside table will help me give myself the push that I need.

I’d love t have this book on my night table – I’m in the middle of my own weight-loss journey but have been struggling recently to stay motivated. I’ve also had trouble believing that I can eventually hit my goal weight, and am starting to sabotage myself in small ways. This book could be the extra push I need to power through my own emotional baggage and finally win my life back!

Its hard enough to exercise for most people. I exercise even though I don’t feel like it. My muscles feel weak, tired, heavy like they are filled with lead. It takes extra effort to exercise for me due to a neurological disease that is trying to take away my ability to move. Yet everyday I make the effert to exercise and to fight to overcome the weakness that is like a darkness that wants to overtake my body. I really need this book, it will be an inspiration to me. Thank you.

To keep inspired and motivated, I read whatever I can get my hands on about success stories. I think this book will be an incredible read!!!

I would love to read this book (and pass it on to someone else when I’m done too). Ali was one of my favorite contestants – she always seemed positively sure she was gonna win, and she did it. Maybe by reading her book, some of that confidence can rub off on me, and I can get it done too! In any case, I would love to get inside her mind even a little bit and I’m sure I could learn a thing or two from her.

    Amanda says:

I would like to have this book on my bedside table because I have struggled with my weight since kindergarten. I am a compulsive overeater and have gotten to my highest weight ever of 280 pounds. I am prone to extreme binges pretty easily. When I’m sad, bored, depressed or when I just feel like I’ll be fat forever. I am trying to get back into the swing of things and haven’t binged for 5 days but I definitely need some inspiration, especially from someone who knows what it is like.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have this book on my bedside table! I rarely watch tv, but I did get to see Ali a few times on TBL and felt she truly understood what she had to do to BE a champion. I’d like to read her words to keep my own self on track when I have trouble keeping my fitness train moving down the tracks.

I didn’t start watching TBL until after Ali was on so I am not familiar with her story, but would love to learn about her. I “know” of her from commercials, internet, etc. What I like best about her is how she has kept the weight off and still looks great after all of these years. She did it the right way and clearly continues to be doing something right. Right about now I could use some motivation and inspiration from her.

I’ve struggled with weight my entire life. I’ve gained and lost hundreds of pounds but can never seem to find what “clicks” for me to help keep it off for good. This is the first season that I’ve watched Biggest Loser and it’s truly inspiring. I’d love to read Ali’s story. Even if I don’t win, I’ll be checking out this book. Thanks for letting me know about it!
