Up here in FBG land, we’re big fans of two things: Bob Greene and pedometers. Best known as Oprah’s personal trainer, Bob Greene is the man when it comes to fitness. And pedometers? Well, there’s just not a better or easier way to encourage you to be more active. In fact, research has shown that using an Omron pedometer can help you walk an extra 2,000 steps—or 1 mile, each day—a huge jump in helping you reach the recommended 10,000 steps a day.

So when we found out about Omron’s partnership with Bob Greene to help make every step count toward your fitness goals and motivate you to keep in shape as the holidays near, we thought it was a match made in heaven! Bob recommends walking as an easy cardio activity to step up your fitness routine, and we couldn’t agree more. Walking is such a simple yet effective way to get fit. And, a walking partner that’s with you every step of the way, Omron pedometers motivate you and remind you to keep going day after day (just think of it as your new workout BFF).

omron-pedometerIf you’d like to learn how you can make “Every Step Count,” get fitness tips straight from Bob and win some super-cool prizes, mark your calendars for 9 p.m. EST next Wednesday, September 14, when Bob and Omron will be hosting a Twitter party. To join the par-tay, just follow along with the hashtag #FitWithOmron.

To get ya’ll pumped for the party, we’re giving away a signed copy (yes, signed!) of Bob’s latest book 20 Years Younger:  Look Younger, Feel Younger, Be Younger and an Omron HJ-112 pedometer. The pedometer’s dual-axis technology can count your steps no matter if placed horizontally or vertically—on your hip or in your purse or gym bag. And it also counts how many calories and fat grams you burned. Talk about awesome! To be entered for the giveaway, just leave a comment below with your Twitter name and why you want to win the book and the pedometer. We’ll select a random U.S. reader to win in about a week. The winner will be contacted via email and notified in the comments below, so keep an eye on your email inbox and this post!

For more info on this awesome partnership, visit Facebook.com/OMronFitness or Omronwebstore.com. See ya’ll at the #FitWithOmron Twitter party! —Jenn

How fun! I walk so much in the city (San Francisco) and am currently on a mission to lose weight. It would be great to actually keep track of my steps, as I’m on Weight Watchers too and can incorporate it into my activity. My twitter handle is @luckylettuce

I would absolutely LOVE new reading material and want to learn how much more I burn during the day with my running around. I feel like I run constantly, but never truly know. Plus this would help me with a full view of what I’m doing right and wrong and help me round out my new found fit lifestyle!!!!!

I’d love to win the book because Bob Greene is an icon of fitness and his early days with Oprah are what inspired me to live a fitter and healthier life.
