Biggest Loser 12, Week 11 Recap: Makeover Week!
It was makeover week on The Biggest Loser 12 last night, and it didn’t disappoint. While I was sad that Tim Gunn wasn’t there (there’s no replacing him, in my opinion), all of the contestants looked great, all gussied up with their new haircuts and wardrobes. I do wish the boys had a little more hair chopped off (both on the head and on the face), but Becky was certainly the showstopper. LOVED her new haircut. You could really see how the makeovers boosted everyone’s confidence, and it was really fun to see their spouses’ reaction to their weight loss.
But last night’s BL12 episode was about more than just getting pretty though. The show started with one of my favorite challenges of each season—when they have to put the weight they’ve lost back on. This time the contestants had weighted vests, ankle straps and cargo pants to put the weight in. As they hiked farther and farther, they were able to drop the same amount they had lost, week by week. Sometimes “losing weight” is such a theoretical concept that when you can put it in tangible terms like this, it really makes people see how far they’ve come and why they never want to go back. Love that.
The show ended with a pretty dramatic weigh-in. While everyone else had solid numbers, Sunny lost just a pound, dropping below the yellow line with Antone, who lost eight pounds. In a somewhat surprising move (I thought there’d be more game play), the group decided to vote off Sunny. So the final four is Vinny, Becky, Antone and John. Should be interesting.
Next week is the marathon, which I’m excited and scared to watch. After doing one myself, I know how hard they are—both the training and the event itself. I sure as heck hope those BL12 contestants are prepared!
