Do Yoga on the Beach, Without Getting Sand in Your Face With This Sand-Barrier Rug

CGear, sandless mat, sand-free rug, blanket, yogaEver since I was a little girl, I’ve had this issue with dust, sand, dirt, PARTICLES getting on my hands and feet. I don’t know if someone pushed me down in a pile of flour and then screamed at me, but I have serious phobias of my fingers and feet getting dirty. I know this is weird, but apparently I’m not the only one because the folks at CGear created a sand-barrier rug that keeps sand and other nonsense from getting on your stuff. Stuff being beach towels, picnic blankets and yoga mats.

Yep, they have turned an invention first used by the military into beach-yoga protection. If you live near beaches and like to breathe in and out to the rhythm of the ocean waves (and also have an issue with sand getting on your feet and hands), then this may be for you!

The mat comes in yellow, avocado, blue, digital (no idea that was a color—but it’s a pretty gray and blue pattern), brown, forest, white haven, green and white smoke. I think white smoke sounds pretty bad-ass. You simply place the sand-barrier rug down on the sand (or grass or wherever you need particle protection), and then place your yoga mat on top and down-dog to your fit bottom’s content.

Pros: Your feet and hands will be particle free.

Cons: It’s a bit heavy and cumbersome. It’s not like you can roll it up and put a yoga strip around it. You have to want clean hands and feet BAD to yoga with this bad boy. Not to mention that the price tag is $35 to $60, depending on the size.

While I don’t see this rug accompanying me to the beach anytime soon, I do plan on taking it out for summer picnics. What about you?! Do you ever do yoga by the beach and, if so, would you rock a rug to avoid the sand? —Tish
