This post is written by our NYC contributing writer Margo Donohue, who’s a fitness professional and blogger at Brooklyn Fit Chick. Since Margo lives in the Big Apple, she’ll be helping us cover events every now and again—just like this recent Fitness magazine event!

Fitness magazine hosted its inaugural “Fitness Blogger Meet & Tweet” (#FitBlogNYC) right here in New York City, and I was lucky enough to be there with so many interesting, fit-minded people. The energy was fantastic throughout the daylong proceedings, which started with a “Hello, bloggers!” and introduction by Fitness magazine Editor-in-Chief Betty Wong.

Betty greeted the 120+ crowd who was enthusiastic about all of the day’s presenters that included several of the top editors of Fitness—plus soccer star Mia Hamm (who was just named Fit Bottomed Girl of 2012!), author A.J. Jacobs, nutritionist Keri Gans, author Tanya Zuckerbrot, trainer Joe Dowdell, Pilates guru Alycea Ungaro and fit bloggers par excellence—Kelly Olexa (@KellyOlexa), Carla Birnberg (@mizfitonline), Tina Haupert (@carrotsncake) and Julie Fagen (@pbfingers).

Panel topics covered the gamut from eating to exercising to beauty to how to run a blogging empire of your own, and all the seats were filled with eager bloggers. In fact, The “Fitness Blogger Meet & Tweet” pulled off that nifty trick of being both fun and informative—which is not easy. So kudos to Fitness for keeping us all entertained while we got out collective learning on!
