The Slooow Postpartum Slim-Down

postpartum belly

Three months postpartum, I'm heading in the right direction.

I’ve been reporting on my postpartum baby belly over on Fit Bottomed Mamas. And while I feel like my progress has stalled in a major way, I’m glad I have these pictures to prove to myself that my stomach is actually deflating and I am actually getting somewhere, albeit slowly.

These pictures prove what we’ve said all along on this site (besides “all things in moderation,” of course): the scale isn’t everything. Because while my stomach is clearly flattening out, the scale hasn’t budged in weeks. Or it’s gone down a couple of pounds and right back up to where I’m stuck. I’m still a full 10 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight. I have to remind myself that progress takes time. (And I won’t be surprised if it still takes me many more months to lose these pounds like last time.)

So I’m really trying to ignore that scale. And not be surprised or disappointed when I hop on once a week and it’s the same, again. I’m trying to focus on improving that cardio. Gaining strength. And enjoying my new baby.

Have you ever taken weight-loss progress pictures? Did they surprise you by showing progress when you thought you hadn’t made any?
