How Michael Phelps Trains Outside of the Pool (And a Giveaway to Get You Psyched!)

We got the scoop on Michael Phelps workout…outside of the pool!

We are blogging on behalf of the Visa Go World Olympic Campaign and receive compensation for our time, but the thoughts, words, and promotions on this page are FBG’s, not Visa’s. The gift card promotion is not sponsored by Visa in any way.

We are simply fascinated by the workouts of different Olympians. So when Visa Go World asked us to work with them to help cheer on Team Visa athletes (#VisaGoWorld if you’re Tweeting!) during the London 2012 Olympic Games—and share insights into how its sponsored athletes do the amazing things that they do—well, we dove in, back-flipped and splashed around with Olympic Games happiness.

We’ll be sharing lots of cool Visa Go World content with you during and after The Games, but we wanted to kick things off with the Olympian of all Olympians: Michael Phelps. We know he’s a force to be reckoned with in the pool, but how else does he train? Watch on for Phelps’ workout on land…it’s a smashing good time!

Makes you want to hit (Get it? Haha!) the boxing ring doesn’t it? Man, we are SO pumped for London 2012!

Want to get even more in on the Visa Go World excitement? We’re giving away a $20 Visa  gift card to help get you pumped for The Games. To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment with why you watch The Olympics. Oh, and while it’s not required, we also encourage you to check out Visa Go World’s Facebook page for this awesome app where you can cheer on your favorite athletes. It’s super fun and super cool. We’ll select a winner in about a week; U.S. readers only please!

Good luck, ladies and gents! The countdown to London 2012 is on… —Jenn

I watch the Olympics because it inspires me so much! Growing up watching athletes like Misty May Treanor and Kerri Walsh go from the AVP tour champs to eventually winning gold is so amazing! I think it’s great how unified everyone is in representing their countries in a fun way.

  2. LauraT says

I love watching the Olympics, especially the summer games. It is so exciting to see the competition between such phenomenal athletes across the world. Seeing so many countries come together in the spirit of sport and games temporarily takes away the negativity of world politics and war. Go Team USA!

  3. Jenna Z says

This summer I have challenged myself to try out EVERY single summer Olympic sport. So I’ll be watching a few of them so that I actually know what they are. Example-Handball is completely different than what I thought it was!

  4. Debbie E. says

The Olympics are so motivational, especially when they have the stories of sacrifice and obstacles overcome to get there.

I have my 2nd (of 10) kickboxing classes tomorrow and it’s hard for me. I feel so awkward punching anything! (lover not a fighter!) I think it will be good for me though, get outside my comfort zone and make me stronger mentally. Thanks for the contest entry.

  5. Tamara @ The Stretch Jean Incident says

I like to watch the Olympics just to admire the athletes’ performance and all of the training time they’ve put in. Plus, I live in Colorado Springs, home to the Olympic Training Center, so it’s always cool to be near the athletes while they prepare for the games!
