Zobha Ella Tank Review: ‘Smashing’ Good Fitness Apparel

Ivy from the TV show Smash loves the Zobha Ella Tank!

When the folks from Zobha casually mentioned that the pink tank they were sending me was the same kind of top that the gals from the new show Smash wear, I groupie-geeked. I love that darn show, and I love the little get-ups they’re always wearing while practicing for their Broadway debuts. You’d think I would have just received the top and loved it without question, but I’m a Fit Bottomed Girl…and with blogging comes great responsibility (says Spiderman, I think), so I made sure to wear the heck out of the Ella Tank to see how well it would hold up for those out there who don’t give a rat’s poop who wore it on what show.

Here’s the scoop: It’s comfortable. It’s pretty. It wicks. It’s 68 smackaroos. For some, the price isn’t too bad. For folks like me, this shirt has to be my go-to wear ALL-THE-TIME shirt if I’m going to spend that much on it. And in this case? I would. (And I’m cheap y’all!) Why? The style is really pretty—and sometimes you just need something pretty. When I’m hiking, doing boot camps or lifting, it’s sweats and tees I’ve held on to since the 8th grade, but when I’m trying yoga (which happens once every blue moon) or going running, there’s nothing wrong with something nice. And this tank is certainly nice.

Shifting Pad Nightmare

Here’s the (boob) rub though: The Ella Tank was made for a busty Marilyn-type, for sure! If I had cleavage, this would be the shirt that would show it off while holding my ta-tas snug, but since I’m seriously the same size I was in the 6th grade, I looked pretty funny sporting a wrap-top, it being that I have nothing to wrap up. The material is lovely though, so I just keep on putting that piece of loveliness on. I’m always sporting black and gray, so rocking pink was a nice change. Now, if i could just find some hot pink capri workout pants, we’d be in business!

Second rub: After a couple of washes in the gentle cycle combined with hang drying (I never put workout clothes in the dryer), my top got all mangled. The boob pads shifted much like they do in a bikini. And while you can move them around via a tiny slit on the side, it’s still “off,” which makes me feel self-conscious. I hate anything that draws attention to my little biddies. I especially hate it when something draws attention to padding. You might as well give me some toilet paper, ask me to stuff it in and leave some hanging out. Fail.

It’s not perfect, but if you’ve been looking for a top that’s got excellent ruching, strong good support and fun colors—and you have a little cleavage to fill it up—the Zobha Ella Tank is your top!—Tish
