7 Kids’ Running Programs That Are Making a Difference
7 Running Programs That Help Kids
4. Just Run. Just Run serves more than 4,000 students in 40 schools in the California area. Just Run provides primarily disadvantaged children in grades 2 through 8 with a free running program to teach them healthy habits. So far, Just Run-ners have logged about 90,000 miles of running with the help of teacher and parent volunteers both before and after school. Children get to work with athletes from the Big Sur Distance Project who act as role models for the children.
How you can get involved: Anyone can start a Just Run club. Teachers can implement the program in their classrooms during the school day, or parents can start one to reach the children of their community. The step-by-step process for starting your own Just Run club is available on the website. Simply download and fill out the application and waiver, watch the training videos, and you are ready to start logging your kids’ miles.
