Tish’s 10K Training: Is Semi-Serious Respectable?

I’m going to get me one of these! Credit By: slgckgc

I swear y’all are going to start thinking I’m Jenn’s minion, but I’m taking the same approach to training for our upcoming Rock ‘n’ Roll 10K in Brooklyn, courtesy of Brooks Running. (I’m sure this surprises everyone.) There are many reasons for my lackadaisical approach: I’ve never received warnings that I could die from not training appropriately for six miles. (The whole death thing really fueled me for marathon training!) I know I’m running with fun gals who will motivate me when needed, and I’ve been traveling, which always messes up my schedule and focus. (That should have been one of my confessions.)

I have at least kept up my short runs during the week. I strive for two miles a day, but I swear I keep ending up running beside the stinkiest man I have ever smelled so I always finish early. I can’t help myself. I’m super sensitive to smell, and I can’t run when I’m about to throw up from smelling day-old booty. Ew, ew ew! I’ve gotten in two five-mile runs on the weekend, too. This is what gives me peace of mind that I’ll be good to go. That being said, I think I’ve established a good foundation to go out there and act a fool. I’m so ready for cooler weather! (Los Angeles has been disgustingly hot.) I’m so ready to hang with the girls! I’m so ready to be done with training!

My post-race plan? Brooklyn pizza! What can I say; I’m a predictable one. —Tish

I’m running this race this weekend too. Last week was a busy work week so I didnt get one workout in. I’m going to attempt to run 4-6 miles today after work, I feel like such a slacker. I think your biggest challenge will be the hills of Prospect Park, but with the support of your friends you’ll be fine. Hope to see you ladies!!!

Sitting still for too long is bad for your health – sitting on LifeBalance Station™ and gently moving throughout the day is healthy!
