10 Tips How to Avoid the Freshman 15

1. First and foremost: find the time. But I have to study! And do homework! Spare me. I’ve been to college; I know how much time actually goes toward academics. Hangovers take up a lot of time, too. Prioritize exercise just like you prioritize your social events, and you’ll find the time.

2. Use the rec center. Most universities have rec centers that are included in your tuition. State-of-the art, fully stocked fitness facilities will cost you money the rest of your life, so get to know the gym. Read over your tuition bill carefully, and you’ll probably find an activity or gym fee. Take advantage of the service you’re already paying for.

3. Go grocery shopping in the dining hall. You have a meal plan, so instead of stocking up on pizza, cereal and tacos, stick close to the salad bars, lean proteins and fruit. Stock up.
