10 Tips How to Avoid the Freshman 15

4. No gym access? Work out in your dorm room. Convicts get crazy ripped in their prison cells, so you definitely have enough room. Stock up on cheap equipment like dumbbells, yoga mats and resistance bands. Run sprints in the hallways. Flights of stairs are your butt’s best friend. Pretty soon the guys around your dorm will be asking “who’s that hot girl always running stairs like a maniac?” You. That hot girl is you.

5. Don’t overestimate how active you really are. Campuses may seem gigantic, so you might think you walk more than you actually do, but don’t assume. Know for sure how much activity you are getting by wearing a pedometer and aim to get about 12,000 to 15,000 steps a day. Careful, though: this doesn’t count as a full workout. You need cardio more intense than walking and full-body strength training is a must, but upping your steps is a start.

6. Stay hydrated by drink half your body weight in ounces a day. Of water. Those ounces need to be of water.
