7 Fit Hotels to Check Out

2. Turnberry Isle, Miami. If you’re competitive with your fitness, you’ll appreciate the Turnberry Isle hotel. The Turnberry Isle has three fitness programs you can participate in to indulge your competitive spirit: Triathlete Training, Tour de Turnberry, and Laguna Pool Cycle & Swim. The Tri-Turnberry program, designed by lead fitness director and triathlete Tait Smith, allows you to train like a triathlete at your own pace: elite, sport or beginner. Participants receive unlimited classes, all gearing up to compete in a final race held at the end of each month. The Tour de Turnberry program utilizes the fitness center’s new Tour de France bikes that help you train like Lance Armstrong himself (performance enhancing drugs not included). These state-of-the-art bikes tilt and move to simulate real life road conditions and are powered by Google maps, allowing you to pedal through 21 actual stages of the tour. Participants have 30 days to complete the program and can earn prizes at each stage for reaching certain personal benchmarks.

The Laguna Pool Cycle & Swim cardio class blends land and water into one invigorating workout. Great for those with nagging injuries, this low-impact workout takes place in the impressive 7,500-square-foot Laguna Pool, but the class actually begins on the resort’s new Schwinn bikes. You will pedal your heart out for eight to 10 miles, followed by two laps in the Laguna Pool, and then finish it off with two walking laps in the pool’s 800-linear-foot lazy river. With all these intense fitness programs to choose from, you’ll be training so hard, you’ll need a vacation from your vacation.
