Support Meets Swiftness: Fila CoolMax Swyft

coolmax-swyft-filaYa’ll know how we’re all about wanting to feel fast in our shoes right? (If I actually am fast is another subject for another day.) Well, the Fila CoolMax Swyft promises a supportive yet swift ride (hence the name), so when we had the opportunity to try it, you know we did. And for this review, we took a pair out for a few runs and a few circuit-training sessions to get the full picture.

First, these really do feel supportive yet light. They’re not heavy in the least, and while they are a bit more rigid than some of the other running shoes we’ve reviewed as of late, they’re not as block-y feeling as say a pair of K-Swiss Tubes. A nice in-between really. With a springy sole that feels good when pushing off and even lifting weights (it has a nice little lift in the heel that I really liked when doing some Olympic lifting), it is a shoe that makes you want to get moving.

Another selling point of the shoe? It’s made of  COOLMA fabric that is a “fiber-based moisture management system.” In layman terms, that means that the shoe helps to evaporate the sweat away from your foot, making you feel cooler and more comfy. I don’t think I’ve ever been bothered by having “hot feet,” but these certainly felt airy and like they could breathe, for what it’s worth. The fabric kind of reminds me of these minimalist Adizero Feather running shoes that I really like. So that was a plus!

But, really, one of the best features of this shoe is the price tag! The Fila CoolMax Swyft go for less than $70, which is pretty dang good these days. While these aren’t my favorite of all the shoes I’ve slipped on my feet over the years, they’re certainly good for your everyday workout. And if you have that hot feet issue, then they may be your go-to!

This was the first pair of Fila shoes we’d tried in awhile. Anyone have thoughts on its shoes? Love ’em? Leave ’em? Do they make you feel fast yet supported, too? Love the price tag? Give us the deets! —Jenn
