Trying BLITZ at Reebok Sports Club/NY With Actor Stephen Lang of Avatar

Blitz

For years, I have been curious to check out the super-fancy Reebok Sports Club/NY, which is up by Lincoln Center and (according to my sources) takes up six floors of space for an indoor pool, full-scale rock wall and a spa. So imagine my delight when I was invited to check out a brand-new class called BLITZ that promises to help develop your strength, endurance and power in three different small group classes that are open to both members and nonmembers of the 140,000-square-foot club.

After getting a tour of the facilities (and noting the almost-silent treadmills in use—totally drool-worthy) our group was introduced to actor Stephen Lang who played Colonel Miles Quaritch in the film Avatar—really! Lang is a long-time Reebok Sports Club/NY member, and he credits his more than 40 years of employ-ability in show business to keeping himself in top-notch shape. (Just see him here in this video talking about BLITZ and showing off his physique!) The buff actor turned 60 this past summer, and let me just say: he is a silver-haired fox and makes quite an impression in person! (With all due respect to his wife of 30+ years!)

Blitz-8

Anyhoo—back to BLITZ. It was developed by Sports Club LA (SCLA) fitness experts to help people get in their best shape possible. In just a 45-minute session, it includes power jumps, squats, ropes and all types of things to push you to your physical limits. The three types of BLITZ workouts offered are Endurance, Strength and Power, and they are currently offered at the San Francisco SCLA and Reebok Sports Club/NY with the Los Angeles set to start soon. Check out their website for days, times and cost per class.

So have you tried a BLITZ-style (high-intensity) class recently? What kind of results have you seen? —Margo

That sounds like so much fun! I always say variety is the spice of life. I love to change it up, try new things, dabble. This would be awesome.
