There Are No Words for What Happened—But We’re Proud to Be a Part of This Community

To say that we were shocked, heart-broken—and sickened—by the events of today would be a massive understatement. The Boston Marathon is such an iconic and historic event in the fitness world—and one that is filled with so many inspirational stories and tales of greatness. And to have what happened today happen there, amidst all of those who were literally running after their dreams or were there in the stands cheering others on? It’s heart breaking.

When I first heard the reports of the explosions, I immediately thought back to Tish and I’s marathon and how powerful of an experience that was. What it was like moments before crossing that finish line and just how much the people cheering really meant to us. How much their calls that “We could do it!” really did power us through. And to have that experience turn into a tragedy…I just can’t imagine.

We know there’s plenty of coverage and plenty of editorials out there about Boston today and there will continue to be. But we wanted to take a moment to honor those affected by this tragedy and just say how wonderful it is to be part of this fitness and running community—a part of a community of people who do things like this. We’re proud to call you fellow fit friends, and we’re thinking of you.

So to all of our Boston readers, anyone affected by the tragedy today, this one’s for you. We here at FBG are sending so much love your way. —Jenn
