How an FBG Does Sick

So you’ve been working out and eating better, a killer duo that is great for your overall health and well-being, but unfortunately it won’t give you 100 percent immunity against all future bugs. I know. It would have been nice. I’m currently dealing with a nasty little cold that’s left me down and out for the past four days.

cold, illness, home remedies

I reached out to the experts (my mom and Jenn) for their advice on how to treat the not-so-common summer cold and was given the following tips.

How to Get Over a Summer Cold

1. It’s okay to rest. Sometimes working out helps, and sometimes you just need to focus on cooling your jets.

2. Hydration is key! I’ve been sipping rooibos teas, water and Gatorade like a pro.

3. Coconut popsicles are great for the throat and are gluten- and dairy-free!

4. Take it easy when you do go back to working out.

5. Wash your hands as often as you can! Helps prevent those who take care of you from catching what you have! Tell them to wash, too!

6. Your appetite will be fickle, but when you can, try to get in lots of fruit and veggies.

7. Find foods and drinks that contain quercetin! If it’s good for our immune system, it’s good for the gander … or something like that.

I’m doing what I can to feel better soon. I hope you don’t have to deal with a summer cold anytime soon, but if you do keep these tips in mind! —Tish
