Fit Blogger We Love: Monica of Run Eat Repeat

runeatrepeat

Monica of Run Eat Repeat is awesome for a number of reasons. First, she’s one heck of a fit lady, running races year round and doing it with a smile. Second, she loves all kinds of healthy foods (watermelon!) and is an intuitive eater. Third, she’s a super hilarious and honest writer. And, guys, in person she’s just like she is in her writing: so sweet and funny and smart. She’s rad. So obviously we had to do a Q&A with her as she’s truly a Fit Blogger We Love!

Q&A With Monica of Run Eat Repeat

When and why did you start your blog? I wanted to document training for my first marathon and trying to lose weight on a blog. I started my site more than five years ago!

How did you come up with the name of your blog? Ha! It was random. I knew I wanted to start a blog, so I wrote down a few ideas — “Run Eat Repeat” was perfect since I was training for a marathon, and I love to eat! I checked and it was available, so I registered it right then.

What’s the most rewarding thing about blogging? Boats and hoes. Okay, not really. I really didn’t have a lot of friends before I started blogging (that sounds so embarrassing). But really, making friends has been the best part. Basically all of my relationships start online at this point.

What’s the most misunderstood thing about your blog or healthy blogging in general? The most misunderstood thing about my blog is probably people thinking I fit into one box. I blog about health and fitness, but that doesn’t mean I’m like all the other healthy living bloggers. It’s okay to not go Paleo or do yoga or eat chia seeds. We can do our own thing.

What’s your favorite post and why? My most recent marathon PR post was at the OC Marathon (read it here). I’m just proud of the accomplishment.

What workouts do you love? Running!

What workouts do you love to hate? Anything that’s not running.

What single piece of workout apparel could you not live without? A good sports bra is vital to a runner’s wardrobe.

What’s the most embarrassing song on your workout playlist right now? I don’t have any songs I’m embarrassed of, but “Baby Got Back” would probably be one that people would tease me about.

What are a few of your fitness confessions? I love this question! I do a “Confession Thursday” series since I like coming clean with my issues.

Anyway, here are some of my fitness confessions…

  • I smell. Like, I know everyone smells a bit after a work out, but I really smell. It’s a problem.
  • I never stretch.
  • I press “repeat” on my favorite song of the day five or six times on any given run.
  • I don’t know how to blow a snot rocket, so I use my sleeve or a paper towel.

Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions, Monica! We so agree about the friendships part! Met so many cool people (like Monica!) through the web. And amen to everyone being able to do their own thing!

Any Run Eat Repeat readers out there? What’s your favorite thing about her blog? —Jenn
