Brooks’ PureProject Apparel Is Pure Perfection

Do you guys remember when I was in New York for the Brooks Running blog ambassador trip (remember: we’re an ambassador but our reviews are totes honest!), and I got to see some of the new PureProject apparel that was coming out? Well, guys, it’s out. And talk about holy cuteness plus functional-running perfection!

Brooks Running is well known for its high-quality and high-functioning running-specific shoes and apparel, but lately, they have just been BRINGING IT on the fashion side, too. I mean, I have been in love with this classy outfit, and now I’m just begging Mother Nature to warm temperatures up a bit so that I can bust out this new PureProject outfit on the regular.

I’ve been wearing the Women’s PureProject 3.5″ Short for my indoor workouts, and I adore them. They are short, but the cut is flattering and allows for really easy movement. With a really unique yet simple front split hem (it reminds me of big flower petals), these shorts function really well whether you’re doing speedwork or going the distance. But, they’re also cute enough (that tribal pattern = love) that you can wear out and about before or after your run. Or, you know, just wear anywhere because you can. The PureProject shorts are semi-fitted and run a touch larger than my other Brooks Running shorts (so size down if you prefer a snug fit), but they feel really comfy with a little stretch in them plus a mesh liner to keep your lady parts cool and happy. I love the low waistband and the fun pockets — there are three in the waistband and two snap pockets in the back of the shorts. For $75, they’re a bit of a splurge, but I think they’ll quickly become my new favorite pair of running shorts.

The Women’s PureProject Jacket is hella cute, too. More of an investment at $135, it’s definitely more high-fashion than just running. But that doesn’t mean that this jacket doesn’t perform, because it does. Besides the trendy cropped hem, over-sized hood and fitted cut, this jacket boosts serious science. See that pattern there on the jacket? Yes, it looks cool, but it’s also reflective. The lines you see are actually reflective fibers that are woven into the outer shell so that when you go out in the early morning or night, your jacket gives you high-visibility. Wind- and water-resistant, the PureProject jacket also has two zip pockets on the front and one zip pocket on the back to store your stuff. It’s not a super warm jacket and it’s certainly cropped (if you prefer longer tops or jackets, this is not it), but it’s definitely one that will be perfect for spring. Or, you know, wearing to and from the gym and looking really cool in.
