Today Show’s Joy Bauer Launches Nourish Snacks

Joy Bauer

We heart Joy Bauer.

Being a New York City-based Fit Bottomed Girl means that, occasionally, I get invited to a swanky luncheon event and trust me — it never gets old!  My most recent assignment certainly did not disappoint as it took place at the oh-so-chic Gramercy Park Hotel to celebrate the launch of a brand new healthy snack line from renowned nutritionist Joy Bauer. Score!

If you’re an avid morning TV watcher, chances are you have seen the nutritionist on Today — she’s been their health and wellness expert for more than nine years. It was after one appearance in particular where she featured the best (meaning healthiest) snacks available on supermarket shelves that Joy realized just how large the snack market had become in the U.S., and she realized the need for healthier options for consumers. After all, a snack isn’t just a snack when you consider that approximately 24 percent of our daily caloric intake comes from in-between-meal snacking.

Fast forward two years later and Joy is ready to announce her newest venture — Nourish Snacks. The subscription-based service costs $12.50 per week (including shipping) for five snacks delivered right to your home with each guaranteed to be:

  • 200 calories or less;
  • free of GMOs, gluten-free, dairy-free and vegetarian;
  • and free of harmful preservatives, artificial colors, trans fats or hydrogenated oils.

After lunch we were treated to a tasting of some of Joy’s favorite Nourish Snacks including Coconuts for You (toasted coconut chia-oat clusters), Posh ‘Stachios (the yummiest pistachio treat I have ever had in my life!) and Cashew Colada (chewy pineapple, crispy coconut and roasted cashews). Check out the spread here!

Joy will be curating the snack options herself until the end of the summer with a month-long subscription to start soon. Eventually there will be personalization of which snacks you will get each week, and there is a kids’ version (nut-free) in development as well.

Nourish Snacks has plans to be on supermarket shelves one day, but right now, Joy is hoping to grow her company slowly and thoughtfully, as you can see here.

While all of us in attendance sat noshing on the delicious selection of snacks, the self-described “small and mighty” Joy regaled us with stories about being a gymnast and cheerleader in high school and still waiting for her “growth spurt” to happen. She also talked about being a proud mom of three who works hard to make sure her kids have a healthy relationship with food.

Afterwards, we were all given a week’s worth of Nourish Snacks, a copy of Joy’s bestseller Food Cures and a big hug to send us on our way. Overall, it was a perfect Fit Bottomed Girl day!
