Getting Sweaty in American Fitness Couture

Fun news, guys! Our fitness pro bud Linda LaRue has created a new fitness apparel company that follows the body’s natural lines of motion so that each style flows with you just like a second skin — and looks great. The new brand is called American Fitness Couture, and Kristen and I got to check out four pieces from it. Check out our thoughts on this new fit line!

American Fitness Couture Review

1. Sport Crop Legging ($65). First off, these leggings are super soft, but still thick enough to feel substantial. After a few runs (plus a hip hop class) in them, they look — and feel — just as nice as they did out of the package, and there’s no evidence of pilling in the inner-thigh region, which has been a problem for me with other oh-so-soft athletic pants. Some of the other claims, like the butt-shaping or how the design “facilitates optimal proproceptive muscle movement, proper form and proper alignment” were not terribly noticeable to me (but maybe I’m just cocky and tend to think my booty looks pretty good in most of my athleticwear — I work hard for those glute muscles!). But don’t take that comment as me saying I don’t love them. They stayed in place really well — the waistband was comfortable but non-slip, and there was no sagging or bagging at any point. They’ve definitely earned a spot in my workout pants rotation!

2. Harem Pant ($56). Ever since Tish’s MC Hammer pants review, I’ve been dying to try harem pants myself, and I finally got the chance with these! Super soft and stretchy, these have a drawstring waistband that helps to prevent slippage when you’re bending and twisting, and you can adjust the length of them up or down as you’d like. While I haven’t been fashion-forward enough to brave these in yoga class yet, I’ve worn them out for walks, done yoga DVDs at home in them and lounged in them like a boss. They are fabulously comfortable and feel awesome on.

3. Essential Layering Tank ($24). You can never have too many good basic workout tanks, and this tank certainly is a great one to add to your collection. Totally reasonably priced and with a longer length that you’ll love, it’s soft, luxurious feeling and works awesomely no matter if you’re bending, twisting, stretching or just lounging. Wear to the gym — or heck — even with your favorite pair of jeans!

4. Essential 3/4 Length Legging ($49). I’ve worn these to the gym quite a few times, and I always get a compliment on them. Thick but not too thick, these soft and smooth leggings have nice stretch to them but won’t sag a few minutes into your workout or after a few washes. With some compression to help lift your booty and a wider double fabric waistband for tummy top control (if you’re not a fan, you can roll it down though, which is nice), these slim you without making you feel like a stuffed sausage. Always a win in our book.
