Gift Guide: What to Buy Your Favorite Runner

books and dvds

Best Gifts for Runners: Mental Training

Running on Air ($11.47): After listening to a brief presentation by author Bud Coates about his breathing technique designed to prevent injury, I made a few slight changes and have noticed a big difference in my running. Imagine what reading his entire book on the subject could do!

Desert Runners DVD ($19.99): This film absolutely took our breath away, not to mention the fact that it made us insanely thankful for our own backyard trails and treadmills. It’ll do the same for your runner … and it might even inspire you to join them for a jog. You know, so long as it’s not a jog through Death Valley.

Life Outside the Oval Office ($9.99): Our pals at Brooks Running sent us this read a few weeks back, and we love how inspirational — and juicy — it is! Written by two-time U.S. Olympian and world champion silver medalist Nick Symmonds, the book is an honest mix of Nick’s experience training and racing — and an insider look at the inside world of elite running. A must-read for those really into the running scene!

Believe Training Journal ($18.95): Professional runner Lauren Fleshman and Roisin McGettigan-Dumas created the Believe Training Journal to help runners of all levels improve their performance all year long. It’s a workbook and training log that also includes notes, photos, plus pro tips and secrets, all in a gorgeous format. Sweet.
