Run With Kevin Hart … Seriously!

Go ahead and file this in “coolest fit events I’ve ever done.” Because, um, I GOT TO RUN WITH KEVIN HART!

Okay, so he ran super fast (and with bodyguards), so I didn’t technically get to run by his side, but he did a pop-up 5K run in Kansas City last week that was hosted by Nike, and I was there along with about 1,000 other enthusiastic KC runners and Kevin Hart fans. It. Was. Epic.

You never know exactly how celebs will be in person, but Kevin Hart was not only wicked fast (he PRed this 5K in 21:30!) but also he totally lives up to his last name — he’s truly full of heart. Besides cracking jokes, he was so energetic, upbeat and motivational. He pumped the runners up before the race, ran like a boss, and then hung out at the finish line, giving high-fives to runners as they completed the course — and didn’t leave until every single person had made it through the finisher’s chute. Talk about awesome.

My friend Jodi joined me for the race — she was equally impressed with the feel-good nature of this run. And I’m happy to report that we ran the whole darn thing in what we think was about a 9:30 pace — and the course was pretty hilly. (We forgot to time ourselves, and because it was a free pop-up 5K there was no chip or timing — which was actually kind of refreshing because it was more about running with your community than anything else.)

These “Run With Hart” pop-up 5Ks coincide with Mr. Hart’s comedy tour schedule and he always announces them on Instagram and Twitter literally days before he comes, so if you want to run with Hart, too (believe me, you do!), watch his feed like a hawk and then sign up ASAP because those free spots go quick! It’ll be a race you won’t forget. (Plus, they’ll even give you a free T-shirt, towel and snacks after!) Check out more from the race here — my buddy Jason put a fun video together from the event. (I make a running cameo around 4:30 in!)

What’s the most memorable race you’ve ever done? This one is DEFINITELY up there for me! Jenn
