Natural Energy Bites for Active Dogs

active dogs

Dogs are fun. Reviews are fun. So reviews with a dog? Well, that’s really fun! And I recently did one with my pup Siena trying Zuke’s Power Bones (aka natural energy bites for active dogs) on Snapchat. In case you missed it

Now a bit of context on the video …

Despite Siena’s lack of overall enthusiasm in the video (it had been rainy and she hates the rain so I honestly think she was just plain tired), Zuke’s Power Bones treats have been a hit at our house and are given on days that Siena is extra active. And with good reason; they are fantastic fuel for active dogs. I care as much about my pet’s nutrition as my own, and these treats deliver.

Although Siena may not be the active dog she once was (eight years and a new ACL has slowed her down a bit on the running-with-me front), she’s still hella athletic and can chase a squirrel like a dog gone muy loco. And these are basically like a Power Bar for pups. Loaded with protein and carbs like apples, carrots and sweet potatoes, they’re a great snack to help your dog power up before, during or after exercise — just like you would. They even have cherries, coconut oil, rosemary and turmeric in them. (I mean, that sounds delicious to me.)

They’re also free of the common allergens of wheat, corn and soy, too — which is awesome since Siena’s usual dog food is grain-free. (Might as well have her treats be grain-free, too, right?) You can get them in the flavors Tasty Chicken Recipe, Tasty Beef Recipe and Fresh Peanut Butter (Siena says “yummers”), and they’re sold all over the place for $6.99 for a 6-ounce pouch.

We haven’t taken Siena out for a long hike or anything lately, but I’d have to imagine that this would be perfect for that. Or even an hour or longer at the beach or dog park. So many active and well-fueled adventures await!

How active are you with your dog? These are obviously for more than just usual walks around the neighborhood, but active dogs need active nutrition! —Jenn
