Staying hydrated is one of those things that you don’t really notice when you have it going on, but when you don’t? OH, MAN. There is nothing worse than being dehydrated for a workout or, well, life. It just feels terrible. And did you guys know that some waters are more hydrating than others? True story!

I’ve been drinking Simple Truth Vapor Distilled Water (found at the Kroger Family of Stores) before, during and after workouts, and, guys, I can feel a difference. With no artificial sweeteners, preservatives or calories, and at approximately a quarter of the price of national brand equivalent water, this water not only tastes delicious (just a hint of fruity flavor) and makes me want to drink it, but it also has electrolytes (calcium chloride, potassium bicarbonate and magnesium chloride) that are added for taste and that help to replenish you after a tough, sweaty workout.

Now, you’re probably asking yourself, “Vapor distilled water? What is that?” (No worries, I was, too.) Let me break it down. Basically they steam municipal water and then collect and condense the vapor. This distillation process removes all impurities and minerals. Then they add the electrolytes and flavor — Blackberry Blueberry, Lemon, Mandarin Orange or Tropical Mango. No calories, no sodium and no fat/carbs/protein — just hydration!

And it totally tastes delicious on its own. But I’ve found that, especially after a workout, if you add in some key ingredients with the Simple Truth Vapor Distilled Water it becomes basically like a special spa-like treat. I’ve tried a lot of combinations but here’s the recipe that I’ve been obsessed with recently. And, as you’ll see, I’m not the only one who digs it …

I just love how refreshing lemon is, the mint is so bright, the ginger has serious energizing zing and the blueberries add more delicious berry flavor to the Blackberry Blueberry Simple Truth Vapor Distilled Water. Simply make a glass or a pitcher before you go to the gym, let it infuse while you sweat, and then come back and drink it up! So good for you and so darn tasty.

Even my daughter couldn’t get enough. I could barely snap pictures because she kept asking for “more … more …” and kept diving for the fresh blueberries.

  2. Thank you for this recipe. I am always verging on dehydrated, I sometimes simply get tired of drinking water and don’t like buying water with chemicals in it. I love this mixture of flavors. I also love adding lavender to my water …refreshing and soothing.
