Carry Your Canine: K9 Sport Sack Giveaway

I’ll admit that I used to be one of those people who scoffed at dog owners who pushed their dogs around in a stroller or carried them in their purse. “Let them walk!” I’d think, and I’d laugh thinking about how it would go down if I tried to contain one of my dogs in a stroller or bag — because it wouldn’t be pretty.

But you know what? I was wrong (and, TBH, kind of a jerk). Not only can small dogs not always walk as far or as fast as their humans, but in an area with a lot of foot traffic, like the farmer’s marker, it’s actually dangerous for a little pup to be down there on the ground among all those feet. There’s no point in risking injury, and I totally understand wanting to take your dog with you wherever you go. So, basically, I’m a convert. In fact, I kind of wish I could convince my dogs to ride in a backpack … although at 40 and 65 pounds, I guess I might not get all that far with them.

However, if you’ve got a small dog who you’d like to take along on an adventure, you’re in luck! We’re working with the awesome folks at K9 Sport Sack to give away a K9 Sport Sack AIR in the size and color of your choice — which means you can take your portable pup anywhere you go (where dogs are allowed, that is). Hiking, biking, walking around town, you name it — your pooch’s short little legs don’t have to keep him at home!

Bonus: it’s not only veterinarian-approved, but also doubles as an airline-friendly dog carrier for small and medium dogs (although, of course, always check restrictions with your airline before showing up, dog in tow). The AIR is particularly exciting as we go into summer, as it has mesh sides for plenty of ventilation.

Oh! And did we mention that this giveaway is open to our U.S. and Canadian readers? Pup. Yeah.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment below telling us about the place you’re most excited to take your pup if you win. (Sharing a few details about your best furry friend won’t earn you any extra entries, but we sure wouldn’t mind hearing all about him or her!)

The giveaway will remain open for a week, at which point we’ll contact the winner via email — so keep an eye out. And stay tuned, as we’ll have a review on the K9 Sport Sack AIR coming up soon. Happy Fit Bottomed Pets Week!

What’s my favorite place I’ve ever gone with my dogs, you ask? We took the pups on a hike in the mountains of Asheville and saw some waterfalls a couple of years ago — that’s a tough one to top! Kristen

I love to take my pup to the various parks around town. He’s a recently adopted shelter dog who is learning how to ride in a car, walk on a leash and interact with strangers in general.

  2. Dana says:

I just got a stroller so that I could take my dog on my half marathon training runs. It’s been fun but I think the sport sack would be great for trails and other general walks around the neighborhood. She is getting older and can’t go as far as she used to but still wants to come along

  3. Iris says:

I would love to take my dog to the beach!

  4. Rachael says:

I would love to win this! My dachshund is an adventurous 11 years, but sometimes he gets tired. He loves going on adventures and we want to explore more beaches this summer~

  5. Irene says:

This would be perfect for when we take our son (a 9 month old jack russell-chuweenie) to Red Rock Canyon where my husband and I had our first date! We love visiting Red Rock and hiking there but we haven’t been able to take our son since he is too small to go hiking with us. This would be a treat!

  6. Angie Henderson says:

EVERYWHERE! I would take my dog everywhere if I didn’t have to carry him all the time!

  7. Megan says:

My pooch misses out on hikes because he can only go so far, I’d love the option of having him come along more often!

  8. I was a convert too! I never understood the strollers/backpacks/hassle until we just adopted our lil man 2 weeks ago (on IG as @thelilfoxprince) and want to take him everywhere with us! …Which becomes increasingly difficult because we don’t have a car. So we end up spending lots of time on public transport which isn’t pet friendly unless they’re in a bag/carrier of some kind. We’d love to take Jasper to Santa Monica Pier or a hike through the poppy fields since all of SoCal is in bloom right now!

Also I don’t know how much you went through the k9sportsack website (which I just did cuz omg this product looks perfect for our dude) but I definitely saw some 40/50lb dogs chilling in their bags! Clearly that’s up to the individual pup and your own weight carrying abilities but not all hope is lost for a transportable pup!!

  9. Tracy says:

I’m most excited to take my pup on hikes at provincial parks!

  10. Anne Richardson says:

I wouldn’t have to worry about taking longer trips if I have the backpack- would go all around town like to the farmers market and far away parks!

  11. Mia Yung says:

I would love to use it to take my dog hiking in the mountains here in Banff or Canmore, Alberta. I’m pretty lucky to have the Rockies be just an hour drive from where I live. My pup Lennon gets tired easily due to her short (but cute) little legs so it would be great to have this to bring her along on short hikes and enjoy the outdoors without getting too tired or possibly running into wildlife where she could get spooked.

  12. Lauren B says:

I would take my dog on long hiking trips around Oregon as well as take him on my bike rides. He’s a cute little tri-colored corgi.

  13. Anna Blaxley says:

Hiking all over the province is where we’d go- his little legs can’t keep up, so he would get to ride in style!

  14. Em says:

Hiking! The dogs cannot always make the full distance and it’d be nice to have more options

  15. Arlo says:

I would like to take my dog hiking on the mountains here in the northern parts of Canada.

  16. Kaelin says:

I would love to try this with my pup out hiking!!

  17. Mia Yung says:

I would love to use the AIR to go on hikes in the mountains here in Banff or Canmore, which we’re lucky enough to live just an hour away from! My pupster Lennon would love “hanging out” with mom on outings since she’s got short little (but determined) legs that tire out easily.

  18. Kathy Stone says:

My Echo will be 13 next week. She loves to go for walks on the trail by our house. She’s starting to have trouble walking as far as we’d like. Sometimes I have to carry her home. A pack like this would make our walks so much less stressful.

  19. Patricia says:

Well, I would love to bring my dog to a Dog Park! The neighborhood where I live doesn’t accept dogs in the parks (they say it’s unsanitary and dangerous .. yeah right!) … I know, that sucks! But I know another park not that far, big, with a special place for dog where he could run everywhere. I would take him on my bike and go there! He is a mix of chihuahua and dachshund 🙂

  20. Susan segrest says:

On days when it is too hot for my pug to walk I’d love to pop her in the backpack and go to the beach or the park. She can still see everything and have fun at her destination without overheating. It would be great on subway too.

  21. Jennai says:

I would take my dog when we hike in Yosemite. He is getting older and can’t walk long distances, so this would be great! He could walk as much or as little as he likes!

  22. Anna says:

Walter can’t wait to hike and bike all around Fairbanks, Alaska with us if he got the glory of riding in a K9 Sport Sak! We need a transportation method for him while we hit the trails and streets so he can be part of the gang despite his short little legs.

  23. Jaclyn says:

I would love to take my dog on longer hikes!

  24. Ashley says:

I would love to take my dog Sherlock on long walks, to the dog park, and on my bike with me (as long as this wasn’t too frightening for him)! He is a twenty pound poodle – Lhasa Apso mix.

  25. Kelly says:

I want to take him to the state park!! He is afraid of other dogs on the trails and I always end up carrying him wherever we go. He would probably feel more secure with this!!

  26. Deb E says:

Ah, now this is exactly what I need! I have a doggie backpack but it is quite a contraption and not that comfortable on a long hike, so I don’t use it much. Plus it is too big for a small breed like a Yorkie. I would love going hiking with my dog in this cool sport sack though and looking forward to your review later.

  27. Christi Smith says:

I would love to have my baby with me everywhere! He is so sad when he can’t go somewhere with me. This would make both of us so happy!

  28. Gina says:

I would love to take my dog on bike rides to work and around town! I recently got her from the shelter and am working on building up her confidence. She loves the outdoors.

  29. Kayley George says:

My sweet pup is an adopted 4-year old lab mutt from the Waco Humane Society. We love that she has some whippet in her that gives her some insane physical endurance. She can run up to 10mph when we run her on the bikes. One of our favorite places to take her are the big state parks for some hiking. In Texas, she’s visited state parks like Big Bend, Garner, Enchanted Rock, and Caprock Canyon! Most of the time, she gets to the top of the trail before we do!
