Fit Tip Friday: An Easy Way to Keep Those Workout Headbands On

simple-trick-headband-585We’ve been chatting a lot about workout headbands lately. First, we reviewed these hair ties and headbands for workouts. And then we put things to a poll to see if you had trouble with keeping workout headbands on your head, too. Where, I learned that I am by no means the only one who has trouble with workout headbands staying on! Heck, more than 85 percent of ya’ll have issues or full-out #NogginFail. Thank you, dear readers, for not making me feel like a workout-headband freak.

So, for all of us oddly shaped headed ladies, today’s Fit Tip Friday is for you! I’ve been using this little trick for years now to save my favorite workout headbands from becoming too stretched out and having to be thrown away in the locker room trash can. While it’s not the perfect solution, it certainly keeps those workout headbands on the weirdly shaped head for longer!

Have you guys tried this trick before? Have any other tips for making workout headbands stay on the head better? —Jenn

Great trick! Another idea to prevent your headband from slipping off is to put your bobby pin in from the other direction. Instead of inserting the bobby pin pointing back toward your ponytail, put it in from the back pointing forward toward your ears. This way, the pin physically prevents the band from slipping back. I hope this helps 🙂

Ii found headbands called Sweaty Bands and they are amazing! They stay on for ever! The underside that touches the head is velvet

I have a narrow head? Is that possible?? I LOVE Bondi Bands. I’ve never had a issue with slipping. I think a wider band like theirs is key.

Have you tried Sparkly Soul headbands yet? Only full-elastic ones with #nopieceofblackelasticintheback http://www.sparklysoul.com and guaranteed.

“owlBeSweatin” makes some super cute ones that have a velvet part against the hair which keeps those babies in place! Also has adjustable band in the back to adjust how tight or loose!! Love them

Thank you! I will have to try it out when I go fast-walking tomorrow! Hee-hee!

I’m sorry, but what’s the point if ya gotta keep adjusting? THAT drives me crazy.

Skinny headbands and even the expensive wide yoga bands weren’t staying on & I thought I was going to have to shave my head when I went to my local Family Dollar and found headbands that kinda look like scarves, cost $2 – I get a lot of looks at the gym, but I weigh 270 (down from a 350 high) and I work out! I do cardio like a skinny athlete, I’m 54 years old and I could care less what anyone thinks of my headgear – IT WORKS!!! The hair stays out of my face and the band stays secure on my big head. http://bossentextile.en.made-in-china.com/product/EeamUdCLCFYy/China-Custom-Made-Colorful-Cotton-Elastic-Head-Wrap-Headwear-Bandana-Headband-Head-Scarf.html

Another item that I love, my daughter got on a glow run. It’s like a cowell neck collar that fits securely around my hair and works like a charm. This kinda looks like it http://tanxiao.en.made-in-china.com/product/hBYnKwoUkkWO/China-Sport-Elastic-Multi-Bandanna-Headband-Scarf.html

My fit tip is to find what works best for you to focus on your workout.

  9. This totally works, especially if you have super short hair like mine.

I personally love Bolder Bands found here- http://www.bbolder.com/
They work very well and no bobby pins needed!

You can also buy the really cheap ones at Walmart that have some like grip or gel felling things under the headband I have to run everyday in gym for quite s while and by headbands never slip.
