sloane-runway

Sloane Stephens, far right, recently walked the runway!

When American professional tennis player Sloane Stephens took the court this summer at the U.S. Open, we were sooo rooting for her (along with our other fave players)! With so much talent, game and style, we know that this young lady is going to go far year after year. And when we got the chance to ask her a few questions about her workouts and the U.S. Open, along with her recent stint on the fashion-show runway as a part of New York Fashion Week where she wore outfits inspired by Just Dance 2014, we were just as impressed with her off the court as we’ve been with watching her on the court. Read on!

Q&A With Sloane Stephens

Why was doing this fashion show important to you? I love fashion. I have never been in New York during Fashion Week because it falls right after the U.S Open. When the opportunity to actually walk in a the Just Dance 2014 Fashion Show presented itself, I couldn’t pass it up. All of the Boy Meets Girl designs by Stacy Igel were inspired by the Just Dance 2014 game itself. I am sure if you play the game you will see where my look for the show comes from.

Did you get to pick out your outfit? Stacy shared the look with me weeks ago, and I trusted her with that. The outfit was fun with bright colors that drew inspiration from Just Dance 2014. I hit the runway feeling fun and vibrant.

We have been so impressed with your level of play, and you looked great this year at the U.S. Open. How was this year different than last? I think starting the year with my semifinal appearance at the Australian Open really changed things. There were bigger expectations. It was new territory for me to go into most matches expected to win. Thankfully, I feel like I have been able to embrace that, and I am looking to finish the year strong.

What is your training and workout schedule like? During training weeks I am practicing twice a day and getting a good gym session in. I am basically at the training center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. I also ensure I get some recovery in as that’s so important for tennis players with our crazy schedules.

Any exercises you love to do? Love to hate? I am a competitor. So any workout that I can challenge myself to beat my trainer or my previous best are the best. I love to dance on my off time so that really made this collaboration with Just Dance 2014 really fun. It gives me a chance to get together with family and friends and let loose. The Custom Sweat Mode lets players personalize their Just Sweat workouts by creating custom playlists and tracking calories. There’s also a new option to track calories in all game-play modes, even outside of the dedicated Just Sweat mode. I really break a sweat doing this one!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? You define your own success.

Anything else you’d like to add? I think I rocked the runway at my first New York Fashion Week!

From the looks of those pics, we’d have to agree that you did rock the runway, Sloane! Thanks for taking the time to answer a few of our questions — and good luck out there on the court! —Jenn
