I love getting into the cars of those with kids. Nine times out of 10, once the car turns on, some Disney song or Backyardigans beats will blast out from the speakers. I personally twitch a bit. I don’t need B-rated (baby-rated) music in order to connect with the little cherubs of the world. Instead, I cheat. Real ”baby” songs are much preferred.

On that note, I’ve created a little middle ground for those against obnoxious singalongs. There are a ton of great baby songs out there once you step away from the big purple dinosaur.

Sometimes I really do think rock & roll should be some version of an onomatopoeia for working out. Isn’t rocking and rolling what it’s all about anyways? Let’s face it, you never see people calmly and quietly standing in place when some one’s cranking out some rockin’ tunes. Even when in the presence of a bad band that’s opening for the awesome band, I still find myself moving along with the music. It’s just impossible to stand still.

We realize it’s a hot mess in most places this time of the year. We also realize heat drains the living snot out of most of us, so with that in mind, we’re sending you rock songs that will Pied Piper you into getting off the couch and onto a stairway to heaven. I wonder how many calories one could burn from 30 minutes of intense air guitar. Hmmm…Any who, I give thee all a list of rock tunes with no rhyme or reason. The only requirement is they have to keep you moving. Add these tunes to different playlists and rock on.

Rock it Out

(5:12) The Adventure, Angels & Airwaves: This one feels like you’re running full speed down a hill. So try that. Run down a hill. Then run back up. Embrace the adventure! And check out our interview with them after.

(2:33) We Got The Beat, The Go-Go’s: Get on the treadmill and add some quick sprint intervals for this fast, upbeat song.

(2:56) The Geeks Were Right, The Faint: I recommend doing the robot on this one. Throw some light weights in your grip and go to town. Find your inner geek, and get your jock on simultaneously.

(5:42) Panic Switch, Silversun Pickups: This one will definitely get your heart pumping. I find the faster the song, the better I jump rope. Try it and let me know if the same works for you.

(4:37) Young Folks, Peter Bjorn & John: I love carefree songs. I recommend reserving this song for the days you’re hiking and need to connect with the whimsical. Who doesn’t need the whimsical?

(4:07) Dashboard, Modest Mouse: Usually I’d say modesty has no place in the land of sweat, but I love to rock this type of modesty, especially while running stairs. It’s all about the momentum…and leaning forward.

(2:22) Riot Radio, The Dead 60′s: Take flower power to a new level. Run outside and watch the flowers blow crazy-like in the wind as you zoom past them.

(3:13) 1901, Phoenix: This song was made for cruising. (Bike cruising, that is.) I have yet to hear this in my spin class, but I can guarantee that the minute I do I’ll be wailing a sweet song of burn.

(4:29) New Divide, Lincoln Park: I like the idea of a new divide. Use this song to divide the new you from the old you. Introduce yourself to the new hotness that can bench press a little bit more and run an extra lap with ease.

(3:20) Toxic, A Static Lullaby: A familiar song, but this time, pop goes rock.

(2:53) Tokoyo, Telekinesis: Another goodie for the spin bike perhaps? Mwahahaha…

(5:04) Uprising, Muse: Super set your two favorite weight training-exercises and rock out to this song for three sets. You’ll feel an uprising IN YO BUTT MUSCLES!

When I think of rock, I think of classic rock. There’s nothing like some Jimi Hendrix to get my blood flowing. So when Deekron “The Fitness DJ” offered up his mixing skills, we took him up on it. Deekron is the DJ for MotionTraxx, which provides free music downloads for workouts. The mixes feature songs with steady beats and synchronize the tempo of the music to the pace of the movements. MotionTraxx is popular among runners, but there are also episodes for cardio work, cycling, walking and interval training. With Jenn and Tish’s newfound “love” for cycling, we thought it would be fun to get a cycling-centric playlist going on up in the FBG house of music.

The assignment was simple. All I had to do was come up with a list of songs for Fit Bottomed Dude’s week —a friendly he- man mix, if you will. What Jenn and Erin failed to realize is that I’m the weirdest person when it comes to hearing men’s voices when I work out.

Let me explain. I have a playlist entitled, “Estrogen” on my iPod because I get wiggy sometimes and just NEED to hear women’s voices. I, by no means, loathe the opposite gender. (Indeed I love me some brute-y cuties.) I just don’t always want to hear baritones, ya dig? Because of my quirk, I had to ask the world at large to help me out with this one. Lucky for me (and you), the world isn’t as weird as moi. Suggestions came pouring in. I am not afraid to admit that even I love this 55-minute manly mix.

Tunes for Dudes Playlist

(4:27) Times Like These, Foo Fighters: I heard through the grapevine Lance Armstrong pedals to this metal. (Well, the Fighters aren’t really metal rock, but it sounded cool.) Anything that gets a force like Lance’s heart moving is a sure thing in my book.

(3:31) I want to Ride my Bicycle, Queen: You know we fit bottomed gals are partial to Queen. I have no clue why I’m on a bike kick, but stick with me, kids. The bell sounds in the middle are a great spot for a little rest break. Then we pick it right up again full force. When Queen starts to rock again, let it be a sign from the rock gods to move to the second position and pedal like you really do want to ride your bicycle.

(5:04) B.O.B., Outkast: I’ve learned in ChiRunning that it’s best on the body to run at a faster pace and like a Kenyan. How fast is fast, you ask? This Outkast beat is sublime, according to my ChiRunning instructor. Keep up with the song for as long as you can. I guarantee your heart rate will feel like it wants to explode by the end of mile 1. Just remember it’s all about keeping your core tight and bending slightly with your head forward. Believe me, you’ll run fast.

(3:37) Bonita Applebum, Tribe Called Quest: After an Outkast invasion, it’s only fair to slow down the pace with a classic. I’ll admit, I’m a sap for songs praising the tokhes.

(5:31) Fistful of Steel: Rage Against the Machine: We’ve all seen Fight Club. We know men love to release the beast and let go of the testosterone build-up that is ever so prevalent. (Isn’t that the force behind all the grunting in the gym?) For that reason alone, I give you a song to mirror your inner rage. Let it out bro, just let it out.

(2:55) Woman, Wolfmother: Hearing new hotness when you work out is a must. You tend to work harder when you hear a new song with a great beat. Wolfmother will not let you down.

(4:14) Control Freak, Saul Williams: I think I’ve found the perfect jump-roping song. Improve your endurance and your vertical jump while jamming to this poet-turned-rocker. Girls will admire your depth—and the great heights you can reach on and off the basketball court.

(4:47) Mama Said Knock You Out, LL Cool J: No playlist is complete without the man who wrote the flipping book on fitness. Seriously, he wrote a book. Be like Cool James, throw this into your rotation and get in a boxing ring. We all know what boxing can do for the body. Now you have the tunes to motivate you to grab those gloves.

(3:41) A Milli, Little Wayne: “Little man, big beats.” Turn this one up and direct your attention to some dips, pull-ups and push-ups. You’ll feel like a milli once the three start to change your upper body.

(5:11) Stronger, Kanye: This song has found its way into the playlist of every broham I know, so for that reason I have to give the dude his props. I’m an advocate for pushing our laziness and mental fatigue to the side and pushing the body. What doesn’t kill your muscles will only make them stronger.

(4:04) Joe, Spencer Day: Chill songs are always welcome in a workout playlist, in my opinion. This jazzy song’s perfect for the guys with a soft spot for slower-paced reps.

(5:31) Enter Sandman, Metallica: Keep up with this song, and you’ll be wanting the sandman later.

(3:53) Eye of the Tiger, Rocky Soundtrack: Don’t say I didn’t do my research. Every guy in the frickin’ world wanted to be Rocky at some point in his life. Every class I find myself taking that involves a male instructor results in me hearing this song. Power on, tiger!

(3:27) Love Song, 311: Yeah, yeah I know guys. A love song found its way into the list, but it’s 311, man. I mean, come on. Trust me when I say it’s the ultimate cool down.

Over the last year and a half, we’ve given you a lot of good workout tunes. But, we’ll be the first to admit that we err on the side of bubblegum-pop most of the time. (Please don’t hate us for our Britney!) But don’t pigeon-hole us FBGs. When it comes down to it, we love anything that gets us moving.

That’s why when the lovely Ms. Elizabeth from Ten Thousand Minutes (awesome concept for a blog, by the way) suggested a more indie/off-the-beaten-path soundtrack for any cardio activity, we jumped at the opportunity. Here are her 14 get-movin’ tracks. You may know or recognize the covers of a few, but we guarantee you’ll find a few new gems in this hour-long playlist. We know we did, and now it’s on our heavy workout rotation!

Off-the-Beaten-Path Playlist

(4:10) Bette Davis Eyes, Sexton Blake: You probably know this track that was originally done by Kim Carnes, but believe us, Sexton Blake’s version is just as sexy and just as perfect for a warm-up.

(5:26) Banquet (Dance Remix), Block Party: After the warm-up, you’ll be ready to get moving when you hear the first beats of this amped-up track. It’s half dance, half rock, and full-out awesome. Use the track’s 5-plus minutes to pick that pace up to a medium intensity.

(3:29) Magic, Ladyhawke: So, I’m a little obsessed with this song. It’s just the perfect track to zone out to and get in the flow of your workout. (It is called “Magic” after all!) Maintain your medium intensity here, maybe slightly increasing your speed or incline.

(5:03) Kids, MGMT: You may have heard this one on alternative radio already, and it rocks. From the sound of kids playing in the background to interesting lyrics, use this song’s five minutes to slowly up your intensity to hard by the end. The song picks up as it goes, so it’s natural.

(3:08) Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Starf*cker: Don’t let this band’s dirty name fool you. This song is just as fun as Cyndi Lauper’s version, but with more of an indie edge to it. I promise it’ll make you hear the song in a whole new way. Return back to a medium intensity for this track, speeding back up to hard when you hear the chorus.

(4:45) Play Your Part (Pt. 1), Girl Talk: So this one comes with a Parental Advisory Label for the first 10 seconds, but it’s so high energy and fun that we had to include it. The song features a number of popular songs from all decades and genres. You’ll even here some Queen, and we’re in love with the “Walk It Out” part. Classic. Bring your pace up to medium-hard for this entire song.

(4:49) Quality Control, Jurassic 5: This slower yet fun-kay jam gives you the perfect break in your workout. Slow your roll to a medium-easy pace, recover and enjoy.

(3:17) Meddle, Little Boots: This is my favorite of the whole playlist! So pick that intensity back up to hard for 30 seconds, medium for 30 seconds and repeat three times. And don’t “meddle” with the plan. Just do it. You’ll love it. Promise.

(2:27) Cheap and Cheerful, The Kills: This may start out sounding a bit like a high school cheer song, but it’s anything but soft and fuzzy. It’s pretty dang in-your-face and dark, and we love it for that. This time continue those medium to hard intervals, but instead of 30 seconds each, up it to 1 minute each. You should be able to get through at least two!

(1:58) French Grass, HollAnd: Okay, now it’s recover time. Work that pace down to medium, then easy. This is a short song, but it’s a pretty one. Makes me want to go to Paris and drive around quickly in a Jetta.

(4:19) Crimewave, Crystal Castles vs. Health: Welcome to techno. My goodness this song is fun. Slowly pick your pace back up to medium-hard with this one, as you imagine yourself on a dance floor with only a disco ball shining on you. Just try not to do the Robot. I dare you.

(3:01) You’ll Find a Way, Santogold: Santogold is one of those artists that I just discovered and keep falling in love with every time I hear her. She is totally funky, poppy and fun. Very high energy. For this song’s full three minutes, pick up that pace to a full sprint. Believe me, the beat will make you want to speed up.

(3:25) Play Your Part (Pt. 2), Girl Talk: In this Part 2 of track No. 6, you’ll want to take a short 30-second break to recover. Then push it as hard as you can for the next three minutes. This is your final song before the cool down, so let the medley of tracks (there’s even JOURNEY on here) get you through! (And, seriously, Girl Talk is so fun, just go ahead and download the entire album!)

(4:36) Let Us Be Loving, Alice Russell: Cool down time! Slow your pace and intensity to easy and just enjoy Alice Russell’s amazing and smoooth voice. And say “goodbye” to those calories you just burned! Then go be loving to yourself.

Where there’s a rhyme, there’s a reason they say. If you recall, Nike hooked a sister up with mad access to the 2010 U.S. Winter Olympics team. While it is inevitable that fit bottomed girls around the nation drool over answers pertaining to how these women got their perfectly fit rumps, legs, arms…you get the drift…I’m sure you never considered the muses behind the muscle.

One thing all fit bottomed girls have in common is the hits that help the trainings go round. I had the opportunity to ask the panel of Olympian ladies what they listen to during workouts. The following songs help figure skaters, hockey players, skiers and skeleton folks do their thug-thizzle. Just think, the Red Hot Chili Peppers could be responsible for America taking home the gold!

Olympian Jams Playlist

(5:00) Butterfly, Jason Mraz: After listening to this little energetic naughtiness you’ll find reason enough to stretch your body out. Preparation never sounded so inspirationally baudy. This is pair skater Keauna McLaughlin’s favorite and absolute perfection as a warm-up.

(4:29) We Made You, Eminem: Every workout needs a catchy beat to get the heart pumping. First the head starts bobbing side to side, and before you know it, you’ve gradually picked up the pace. This other Keauna fave has just enough anger to put her in the competitive mood.

(5:07) Clocks, Coldplay: This track had Keauna and her partner Rockne Brubaker flying all over the ice. There’s just something about this haunting song that makes you want to get up and move. It’s all about beautiful inspiration, right? Makes me wanna twirl on some ice. Twirling is great cardio, FYI.

(5:04) M.O.N.I., DJ Cobra: You won’t hear any mellow vibes bouncing out of Katie Uhlaender’s ear phones. In the sport of skeleton racing, athletes such as Katie descend down a bobsled track head first (their chin and toes only millimeters from the ice) while balancing on an aerodynamic, rectangular steel and fiberglass sled. They do this while going 130 mph. Repetitive, fast-paced music is perfect for those trying dare-devil moves in their workouts.

(4:44) Give It Away, Red Hot Chili Peppers: This song is Katie’s top choice for lifting. Just imagine that darling lead singer, and the muscles he’s acquired that you, too, can have. Be your own Olympian.

(4:12) Big Poppa, Notorious B.I.G.: Another Katie fave, this song is perfect for when you need to slow down the pace but keep things gangster-champion. I recommend a couple sets of squats and lunges. Create a positive relationship between rap and your bottom once and for all.

(3:30) Single Ladies, Beyonce: Every gal should have this song within reach. Substitute “ring” for medal and go to town doing the Beyonce dance. Precious metals are great incentive to sweat it out a couple more minutes in the gym. Just ask hockey player Angela Ruggiero, who loves this track.

(3:26) Magic, Colbie Cailatt: This cool down song is a must-listen for Keauna. Her name is Hawaiian and means “feminine wind running through the forest,” and she fittingly rocks a pink iPod and leans more towards heart flutters than heart pumps. Perfect for cooling down.

And they are all Fit Bottomed Girls (declare your FBG status here!). There’s a little bit country, a little bit rock ‘n’ roll and a whole lot in between!

Reader Fave Workout Begins!

(5:19) Jai Ho, Slumdog Millionaire Soundtrack: This song is from one of my favorite movies of all time. Even if you haven’t seen the movie, this Bollywood-esque track will get you moving. It’s a perfect way to start a workout with some serious pep! And it’s the perfect length for a warm-up. Victory to thee! (That’s what Jai Ho stands for!)

(2:32) Ladybug, Presidents of the United States of America: Off the reader-submitted album “These are Good Times People,” there’s no way you can take this song seriously, but really have you ever taken anything seriously from the Presidents of the United States of America? And isn’t that what makes them so great? This song is right up there with “Dune Buggy,” in my humble opinion. And it’s the perfect track to pick your pace up to. And giggle at.

(4:48) I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’, Scissor Sisters: This throwback to the Bee Gees band is uber fun and puts out some fun tunes to sweat to. If you don’t feel like dancin’, this is the perfect song for an easier workout or as a recovery period during intervals!

(3:25) Bulletproof, La Roux: I had never heard of this song or this band, but such a fun new find! It’s dance-y and electronica-y and oh-so fun. Plus, you can sing along and say that you’re bulletproof. Save this puppy for the midway point in your workout when you’re looking for a pick-me-up to make the last half as strong as the first!

(5:24) Pump Up The Jam, Technotronic: This is a 90s arena rock standby and with good reason. Talk about something to get pumped up about! And it’s almost five and a half minutes, so it’s perfect for a gradual incline in intensity. Just try not to sing along at the gym too loudly.

(3:15) Sexy Bitch, David Guetta and featuring Akon: This was a new one for me, too, but so glad a reader suggested it. This track is fun! And makes me giggle. The lyrics are by no means profound, but it does make you feel like a sexy bitch, and I mean that in the best way possible.

(3:44) How Bad Do You Want It? Tim McGraw: This is a track for you country fans out there! This song is all about dedication and what it takes to reach your goals, so think about how bad you want it while you push up that incline or resistance!

(3:20) TiK ToK, Ke$ha: I tried really, really hard to not like this song. I mean come on. Look at her name and the name of the song. It’s got one-hit-wonder written all over it. The lyrics are lame, and she sounds pained or at best special (and not in the “I got a gold star” way). But one day I got it in my head, and it wouldn’t come out! And then I downloaded the song. Oopsies. And, darn, if it isn’t great to work out to! Stay at a medium-hard pace the whole time!

(3:51) Let it Rock, Kevin Rudolf: I didn’t know this song by name, but once the beat starting bumpin’ I recognized its catchy and energizing beat. We chose this as the final song of the workout because it’s guaranteed to get you moving. So pick up that pace and LET IT ROCK for this final push.

(4:59) Dead and Gone, T.I featuring Justin Timberlake: Anything “JustinTimberLizzake” does is good for this blogger’s playlist. We’d have to agree too. Even in this song that’s perfect for cooling down—and life change—you want to move.

Thanks for all of the great song suggestions guys! You’re keeping us motivated with all the great new tunes! Click here to download the playlist on iTunes!—Jenn

Last year, Erin put together FBG’s official best workout songs of the year playlist. And it had such a good response that we decided to do it again, albeit 2009 style. This year though, we didn’t just rely on our own personal music stylings and the Billboard charts. Nope, this year, we got ya’ll involved through Facebook and Twitter. Read on for the best 45-minute playlist of workout songs of 2009 according to us and, well, you!

Best of 2009

(4:49) I Gotta Feeling, Black Eye Peas: Sure, you may be a little sick of this song from it being played so much both on the radio and in commercials, but you can’t deny that the song is a) catchy and b) gives you a good feeling. Use this one to warm up and get ready to feel a good workout!

(3:57) Poker Face, Lady Gaga: When this track first came out, I spent weeks singing “my pa-pa-pa poker face, my pa-pa poker face.” I’m sure I drove my coworkers nutters, but it’s all good because this song still can pump me up. And if Poker Face [ital] isn’t your cup of crazily dressed tea, try one of Lady Gaga’s other infectious tracks from 2008!

(3:20) I Do Not Hook Up, Kelly Clarkson: I love Kelly Clarkson. Year after year, she just keeps cranking out the good workout tunes. This one is perfecto for intervals, so crank it up (within reason) and pick up that pace!

(3:56) The Climb, Miley Cyrus: This year we had a tie between “Party in the U.S.A” and “The Climb,” but we gave this track the position on the list because of its positive image. Because when you’re on the stair stepper or upping the incline on the treadie you are—quite literally—enduring “the climb.”

(3:50) Use Somebody, Kings of Leon: Although the FBGs are pop fiends by nature, we do appreciate good rock. And Kings of Leon is kind of the undisputed rock band of 2009. This one makes for a fantastic recovery song after some tough intervals!

(4:01) Battlefield, Jordin Sparks: Sometimes working out feels like a battlefield—you get sore, you develop calluses, you ache—but it’s all worth it! That’s why Jordin Sparks made this year’s list: to help you get through those challenging workouts. And this time, you know what you’re fighting for—health and happiness!

(4:03) Fire Burning, Sean Kingston: I’d been hip to this song for awhile now, but it really started to grow on me (and my iPod) once my marathon training started. The energy in the song is invigorating, and I always like to imagine that I’m the “shawty fire burning on the dance floor” or “shawty fire burning on the treadmill.” You know, whatever.

(4:45) Help I’m Alive, Metric: This song isn’t nearly as well known as it should be, but I think it’s the dark horse for best workout song of 2009. It’s a powerful, energetic song that I guarantee will get you moving. Save it for when your energy is waning and you need an extra little something-something to get going.

(4:27) Run This Town, Jay-Z: I was just hipped to this song, but it’s definitely got a good beat that makes you want to move. Plus it features Rihanna and Kayne West. That’s a power team of three in the workout song world.

(3:33) 3, Britney Spears: Speaking of threes, this risqué song is darn poppy and energetic. And, really, how could we not include Brit on a best-of list?

(3:07) She Wolf, Shakira: Erin and I have had a joint of love Shakira going back to our days in Zumba class together. And, I’ll be honest, I missed Shakira and her hip swiveling the last few years. Thankfully she’s back on the scene and pumping out more workout tracks. She Wolf took a few listens for me to really fall in love, but it’s a great track, especially for us active “she wolves.”

(3:51) Please Don’t Leave Me, Pink: A few months ago I watched a documentary on Pink and have since totally respected her punkish in-your-face attitude. It’s not a front; she really is like that. And I love this as a cool down song because it’s Pink, being her, but in a much more vulnerable and loving way. And, really, isn’t that the best way to conclude a workout?

Check back in later this week to vote in our poll for what you think is the best workout song of 2009. And if we missed your fave song of the year, let us know in the comments below! We love new tunes! —Jenn

We love themed workout playlists up in here. Having a theme can be fun, and it’s a sure-fire way to shake up your tunes with a twist, sometimes even listening to a song or two that you totally forgot existed! (Like at least one of this playlist’s songs…)

All of the following songs involve sweat in some way, either in the lyrics, song title, album name or artist name. So jump on your favorite piece of cardio equipment (or hit the good ol’ outdoors), ‘cause you’re about to power through a relatively short (32 minutes) but intense workout. It’s time to get your sweat on, fit bottomed boys and girls!

Get Your Sweat On Playlist

(4:20) Solid Gold, Eagles of Death Metal: My husband introduced me to this one, which is oddly poptastic and silly for a band called the Eagles of Death Metal. It’s the perfect high-energy warm-up song that tells you to work out. And, well, sweat!

(4:03) Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now), C+C Music Factory: Everyone over the age of 25 knows this song. Heck, I even remember the video. Too much spandex and rockin’ beats to forget. Pick up your pace to a moderate intensity for this throw-back track. Sing along if you need to.

(3:05) I Write Sins Not Tragedies, Panic! At the Disco: So this one is bit of a stretch, but I really like it, and it’s from the album A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, which totally counts, right? Gradually pick up your moderate pace during this song. By the end, you should be at a hard intensity to get that sweat flowing!

(3:45) Sweat (A La La La La Long), Inner Circle: Time for a short break. Slow down to a moderate to low intensity while you listen to this song and think, “OMG, I forgot this song existed! It’s so amazing. Why do you never hear its cheesy beat any more?!”

(3:09) Black Sweat, Prince: It’s not a sweat playlist without Prince, the master of all sweaty, dirty sounds. This song is particularly sweaty and sexy, but still has an energetic beat. Bring your pace back to moderate again or add some incline to your treadmill if you’re on one. You’re more than halfway through the workout now, so it’s time to give it what you got.

(4:31) Sweat, Oingo Boingo: I’ll be honest. I’m not that familiar with Oingo Boingo, but damn is that name fun to say. And they have this fun new wave song that’s pretty rocking. That’s enough for me really. Every time you hear the word “sweat” in this song, speed up your pace just a bit until you’re at a moderate-hard intensity. Then say Oingo Boingo five times fast, just because it’s fun.

(4:58) Dirrty, Christina Aguileria featuring Redman: As Christina so eloquently puts it, sweat should now be “dripping all over [your] body” for this final cardio song. Go ahead and get dirrty with her by upping your intensity to hard. It’s just five minutes—you can do it! Just be sure to keep your clothes on. I know Christina brings out the assless chap in all of us.

(4:12) Twisted, Keith Sweat: We couldn’t have a “sweat” playlist and not include Keith Sweat, right?! Slow your pace down to easy while you listen to the smooth voice of Mr. Keith Sweat. The king of romance, and, well, sweat.

So, there you have it. A playlist to get ya sweaty. Did I miss any good songs that make you sweat? Let us know in the comments! —Jenn

We’ve had some good material with this method, too. After all, where else can you find a playlist with Miley Cyrus, The Four Tops and Fleetwood Mac?

And while not a true shuffle, we handed the reins over to you, dear readers, to help us compile this week’s playlist. We wanted to find some good workout tunes, and you guys came through in a pinch via Facebook and Twitter! By the way, if you’re not already a Facebook buddy of ours, why not!? Get that going, and while you’re at it follow us on Twitter, too! You’ll get the inside FBG scoop and opportunities to let us know what you’d like us to review.

Now, without further ado, I give you the first-ever official FBG Fan Playlist. Clocking in at 40 minutes, it’s perfect for a run, jog, walk or any workout you enjoy!

Warm-up

(4:01) Last Name, Carrie Underwood: An adorable song from an adorable girl, this country tune tells a story, so turn it up in the warm-up so you can hear it. It’s also the perfect length to get the bod prepped for your workout.

Shuffle it up

(5:01) It Takes Two, DJ EZ Rock & Rob Base: It make take two to make a thing go right, but it only takes you to make your workout a success! This song will have you picking up the pace and singing, “I wanna rock right now.”

(5:24) Pump Up the Jam, Technotronic: This fun, upbeat techno song will have you pumping up your jam in the gym. Pick up your pace each time she says, “Get your booty on the floor tonight,” and you’ll be sweating by the end of the song. Also works well for simply cardio-jam-dancing in your bedroom.

(4:11) Fit But You Know It, The Streets: Jenn and I are suckers for accents, so this English rapper is refreshing and fun to listen to. Slow your pace back down to a moderate intensity and recover a bit here. You’ll be fit before you know it.

(3:36) Are You Gonna Be My Girl, JET: This rockin’ tune has such a fast pace and catchy lyrics that I will be shocked—shocked, I say!—if you’re not picking up your pace here. You’ve been warned.

(3:11) Trouble, Pink: Now that your intensity is up, throw in some sprints during these choruses. You’ll be in trouble if you don’t!

(3:03) It’s Tricky, Run DMC: Reader recommended for fast-paced workouts and runs, Run DMC will help you keep a quick pace in this high-energy song. It’s not that tricky—just keep moving!

(3:47) She Loves Everybody, Chester French: I’m skeptical of free music, but this tune can be picked up on the band’s website at no cost! It’s perfect for a steady-state workout or weight-lifting session. And it’s catchy!

(3:30) Don’t Stop Me Now, Queen: Listen to the title! You’re almost done! Start off slowly like the song does and increase your pace as the song picks up intensity. You’re unstoppable!

Cool down

(3:55) Say Hey, Michael Franti & Spearhead: This is my personal pick, but I have to share it because I love it so much! This song is just happy, summery, and has a great reggae and pop feel. Plus it has a great message. I love you, I love you, I love you!

And remember, your vote counts! If you don’t like this list, tell us your favorite workout tune and you could see it on a future playlist! But if you love this playlist, check it out on iTunes! —Erin
