The National Body Challenge kicks off, Weight Watchers unveils a new plan, and one fun shopping bonus.
New Year, New National Body Challenge
Have a bad habit that needs breaking? Discovery Health wants to help. Its sixth-annual National Body Challenge is in full-swing, providing thousands with meal plans, workouts, healthy recipes, message boards and a free 30-day pass to any Bally Total Fitness. Heck they even have Gilad.
The free online program lasts eight weeks and is paired with a TV show, aptly named National Body Challenge. Like any good reality show, the competition pairs a diverse group of individuals (from a partying musician to an athlete-turned-couch-potato to a decadent chef). The series airs January 5-9 at 8 p.m. Eastern on Discovery Health.
Are you up to the challenge?
Core Flex Plus
If you’re going to go on a “diet,” Weight Watchers is probably one of the best ones you can do. On the whole, it’s all about lifestyle changes, realistic results and regular activity. But, the one thing that has always bothered me about the program is that it doesn’t always emphasize the healthiest of foods. In fact, many Smart Ones branded Weight Watchers foods have ingredient lists that are waaay too long for my regular-eating liking. While the Smart Ones don’t seem to be going anywhere, Weight Watchers recently unveiled a new plan that brings healthy, filling foods front and center. Hooray!
The new Momentum Program combines the best of the Core and Flex programs. If you’re not familiar with those programs, suffice it to say that the new program allows you to eat what you want (within your total points, of course), while putting a big emphasis on nutritious foods that fill you up like popcorn and cherries, although those may not be great together. Well, actually, maybe they would be…salty and sweet…hmmm…

What are you going to do with your pink boxing gloves???
Charlotte: I agree with Sagan. You need those pants. 😉
Every Gym’s Nature: I don’t wear shorts all winter just for that reason. Time to invest!
Juliet: Oh, as much as I’d love to buy those pants, my drawers are already full of workout gear. But if you get them, I totally want to know how they are. I mean, pink boxing gloves…It doesn’t get more girl power than that, right?!
