This may sound weird but it works for me: I release stress by singing really loudly! I think this works because I’m forced to inhale deeply and exhale in a controlled manner. My kids know that if I start singing louder than the old Celine Deion CD or belting out the Star Spangled Banner, trying to hit every note at maximum volume, they’d better just stay out of mom’s way!

I recently started joking that the dog park is my new church and/or meditation zone. I love the long walk up to the dog park (currently lined with cherry blossoms) and the relaxing hour I spend watching and playing with my dogs. It’s amazing how work and family drama get left at the gate.
