Alia’s Story

Hi! My name is Alia, and I thought I would share my weight-loss story with you. After gaining 75 pounds with my daughter in 2005, I was tipping the scales at about 250 pounds. I tried many times to lose weight, but it seemed like nothing was working, and then I would get discouraged and just give up. In 2008, I got pregnant again with my son. In December of 2008, after I had my son, I was still weighing in at 251.

My husband was getting ready to deploy to Iraq and something had to be done. I changed my eating habits right away and began exercising regularly. I have since lost about 100 pounds and am still losing. I feel great, and I can’t wait until my husband returns so we can enjoy more outdoor activities together that we couldn’t before. Thank you for letting me share my story! —Alia Graves

It sounds like Alia proved the lesson of “Slow and steady wins the race.” Thanks for sharing, Alia, and we wish your husband a safe return! —Erin
