Eating for One…and a Little One
As most pregnant women are aware, current guidelines allow for a woman of a healthy weight to gain about 25 to 35 pounds during her pregnancy. The guidelines also recommend that obese women keep their weight gain between 11 and 20 pounds. However, some experts are speaking out against these guidelines, saying that they allow for too much weight gain for those who are already overweight when they begin their pregnancies.
Regardless of where your weight is during your pregnancy, eating healthy and exercising will help you keep your gain within healthy limits. If you’re overweight, work closely with your doctor to develop healthy lifelong habits. It’s never too late to start!
