Kids can form good eating habits by watching their parents eat healthy meals. But it also turns out that Mom and Dad’sparenting style can also play a role in the frequency of family dining fun.

Researchers have made a connection between an authoritative parenting style and the frequency of meals eaten together as a family. Authoritative parents—empathic and respectful, but who maintain clear boundaries and expectations—were associated more with frequent family meals than other parenting types. Believe it or not, kids like structure, so carve out a time for family meals. And don’t forget the veggies!
