Jazzercise: Not Your Mother’s Workout

jazzercise-classI’ll be the first to admit that while I love most forms of exercise, I’ve never quite been as smitten with Pilates as I am with say yoga or Zumba. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that I’m not very flexible, and a little to do with my exercise ADD, where I really have a hard time lying down for a full class. Whatever the reason, I’m starting to get over it and feeling a few butterflies for Pilates. Sure, you do spend a lot of time on the ground and you don’t burn a ton of calories in a class, but it’s one heck of a full core workout. And because many of the moves are challenging for me, I know it’s an area that I need to improve. And I’m all about getting stronger!

Recently I tried a new Jazzercise class called Fab Abs Pilates Style that totally kicked my butt—or more aptly put, my core. From planks to the Hundred, it was killer. Check out my full experience, including tips for Jazzercise and Pilates beginners in the video!

And a big thanks to all the ladies at the Overland Park Jazzercise for letting me crash! I had a blast! —Jenn

I’ve been ‘Jazzercising’ for 10 years and it is central to my well-being – physically, emotionally and mentally. Welcome to our center, Jenn! I was in the fab abs class with you. Good for you – it can be tough! I recommend Jazzercise to anyone who wants to get that heart rate up, build strength and flexibility, dance, laugh and get fit. It truly is for students from teen to senior. I do high impact just about every day alongside students who do every possible intensity/customized version there is to do.

Jazzercise Overland Park saved my figure and my life!!! I’m a Jazzie groupie now — my day isn’t complete w/o Jazzercise. You’re right — their Fab Abs class is fantastic — but so are all of their offerings!
