Raising Awareness: Children’s Cancer

I try to never take my family or my health for granted. But every now and then I’m reminded of how lucky I am to have a healthy, happy little family. Recently, while on Facebook, I discovered that a former high school classmate’s one-month-old son was diagnosed with cancer.

While I don’t know the family very well, having an infant myself, I’ve been especially struck by the story of this baby’s battle. I cannot fathom the stress and worry of having a sick infant who will be undergoing chemotherapy in the months ahead.

Unfortunately, this is one story and there are many other little ones out there fighting tough fights against terrible childhood illnesses. Not even a week before I heard this story, I’d written a check to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It’s the season for giving, so I urge you to donate to a healthy cause. It doesn’t have to be much, but skip a cappuccino or two and give a little. Help make this world a healthier place.
