Do You Breastfeed in Public?

Earlier this week, I got a little opinionated about breastfeeding in public. Most moms I know agree: 1) It’s done out of necessity, not because we get a huge kick out of it, and 2) Most of the time, it’s done discreetly. So it just bothers me when I see articles like the one I mentioned that make breastfeeding in public seem so abnormal and offensive. Breastfeeding mothers already face enough challenges (hello, exhaustion, pumping, plugged ducts, low supply, over supply, etc!) to have to worry about offending the “delicate sensibilities” of others. So tell me…

I know the first time I nursed in public, I was crazy-paranoid about it. But like anything else, the more you do it, the better at it you become and the more normal it is. Plus, I’ve found that most of the time people don’t even notice. I’d love to hear about your experiences breastfeeding in public. I hope they’ve been good ones! —Erin
