Would You Eat Breast Milk Ice Cream?

Anything related to Lady Gaga really shouldn’t come as a surprise, but this is one of those news stories that makes you go “Hmmmm.” A few key facts:

1. Ice cream makers made ice cream from human breast milk, dubbing it “Baby Gaga.”

2. A waitress dressed like Lady Gaga serves the ice cream.

3. Lady Gaga threatens to sue.

I can maybe understand the problem with the waitress using LG’s likeness to promote the product. But the name Baby Gaga? Seems pretty perfect for the product. After all, didn’t “gaga” belong to babies before it ever belonged to The Lady Gaga?

But even with all of that nonsense, the bigger question is why is breast milk being used to make ice cream? And would you eat it? I’m a wholehearted supporter of all things breastfeeding, but this gets me a little squeamish. Plus, the FDA has issued warnings on the subject already. I think I’d pass in favor of chocolate and peanut butter. How about you?
