Elmo Gets Cooking With Dr. Oz

Even though my daughter is too young to really watch TV, I have been using her as an excuse to tune into Sesame Street. I’d forgotten how smart and funny the show is—and how educational it is. The show has also emphasized healthy habits, with Cookie Monster declaring cookies a “sometimes food” and Michelle Obama stopping by to talk about the importance of exercise and healthy eating.

My Sesame Street favorite, Elmo, recently stepped off the street and into Dr. Oz’s studio to help the good doctor and chef Art Smith bake up some healthy cupcakes. Check out the red fur monster as he bakes up some delicious-looking vegan cupcakes. On another episode, Elmo lends his expertise in cooking up some Red Veggie Alphabet Soup. It’s a little hilarious that he encourages Dr. Oz to go so overboard on the yogurt, but the soup looks super easy to make and it’s sure to be a hit with the kiddos. (Get the recipe here!)
