Eat Strong to Be Strong: A Review
Although I’ve been partial to a Granny Smith apple and a handful of almonds as my post-workout go-to snack lately, I’m always game to switch up my daily eats. (Eating the same thing day after day can get boring with a capital B!) And I’m always interested in trying something that is portable and convenient—and, let’s be honest, something I can nibble on while driving home from the gym without causing an accident. This is where EatStrong comes in.
Besides having a clever name that reminds us of something else that’s “strong,” we’re digging this company that combines natural ingredients—namely nuts—with one of our favorite ingredients of all time: chocolate. (Want proof? Here you go.) We tried both the Trail Mix and the Energy Bar, and while the bar was pretty much your run-of-the-mill protein bar (good flavor and good nutrition stats with 12 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber and 230 calories), the Trail Mix was a nice and flavorful mix that didn’t just taste like a bunch of nuts and chocolate mixed together. Although, essentially that’s what it is—walnuts, cashews, pistachios, almonds, sunflower seeds, flax and organic chocolate drops (drool). More like a mini-meal or a large snack than a nosh, a single serving of the Trail Mix has 260 calories, 7 grams of protein and 5 grams of protein. It’s seriously delicious. I’m also happy to report that both of the EatStrong products are not overly sweet, which was a huge plus for my taste buds.
