The Fit Bottomed Girl of 2011 Is…

stacy-lewisEach year we go back and forth about possible Fit Bottomed Girl of the Year recipients. The first year we gave it to Dara Torres, who is—as you know—quite the swimming bad ass. Last year, we gave the coveted title to Ruby Gettinger for her inspiring, honest and incredibly real and very public journey to getting healthy. So we knew this year had to be good…unexpected, yet someone who saw their potential, believed in themselves and really embraced what being an FBG is all about. So just who was that person? Golfer Stacy Lewis.

Maybe you’ve heard of Stacy or maybe you haven’t. But we guarantee you’ll remember her after hearing her story. After being diagnosed with scoliosis (check out her x-rays here, whoa) at age 11 and wearing a back brace for seven-and-a-half years, plus surgery, Stacy wasn’t sure that she’d walk again, let alone swing a golf club. But through consistent training, a competitive nature and a heart full of go-get-’em that just wouldn’t quit, Stacy has overcome all odds, playing her third year on the LGPA tour, and recently winning a “major” by winning the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

While Stacy has a ton of wins and accomplishments under her golfing belt, we love her down-to-earth attitude that values hard work—and never letting any obstacle stand in her way. For this, we name her Fit Bottomed Girl of 2011!  A big thanks to Stacy for the inspiration! Keep on at girl! —Jenn
