My Favorite Summer Workout Outfit

When the weather is this hot, it’s hard to look cute in anything when you work out—or when you’re just out walking around. While we certainly don’t have to look cute when exercising, we’d be a fool to say we don’t appreciate cute workout apparel over, say, a ratty cotton T-shirt from high school. While some cute pieces are best suited for home or a yoga class where you are less likely to have a wardrobe malfunction, a girl also needs tops and bottoms that can survive the hardest of workouts. Which is why I love these two workout apparel pieces from Puma. They are, in fact, my favorite summer workout outfit.

If you sweat a lot, like I do, you don’t always want your sweaty business all up on display. And this Puma tank is perfect for keeping you cool and not making you look like you ran through a salty sprinkler. With two layers—a moisture-wicking tank with a stretch mesh overlay—you can sweat to your pores’ content without any dark sweat marks.

With a fun racer-back, drawcord on the side and color-contrast stitching detail (that matches the shorts—whee!), it’s also darn cute. It’s moderately priced at $38, too. Which is totally worth it. In fact, I’m not sure how I worked out in the heat before it!

There are a few things I look for in a summer running short. First, I want booty coverage, yet not so much coverage that I’m either hot or feel constricted. Second, I want it with a simple design so that I can pretty much wear anything in any color on top. Third, it should wick sweat. (Think pit stains are embarrassing? Try crotch sweat.) Fourth, no one likes a wedgie.

I’m happy to report that these Puma running shorts pass all of my criteria! They’re the perfect length for running, a cute solid, have “moisture-management properties” (according to the company), and have an inner brief that doesn’t wedge in places that it shouldn’t. It even has an inside mesh pocket to put a key for your outdoor runs. At less than $30 a pair, you can’t go wrong with these.

I almost wish I had two sets of this summer workout outfit so that one would always be clean! —Jenn
