A Lazy Dog Sends a Healthy Message in Wallie Exercises

childrensbookIn my 14 months as a mother, I’ve read a lot of kids’ books. Hundreds of kids’ books. And trust me, when you read hundreds of kids’ books, you see the good books, the bad books and the books that convince you that you could publish a kids’ book, too. Needless to say, I consider myself somewhat of a kids’ book connoisseur.

I was sent a copy of Wallie Exercises by Steve Ettinger, and I must say it’s one of the cutest books I’ve read. Maybe I’m biased because I love the healthy message, but I don’t think that’s the whole story (haha). It’s got cute pictures, adorable rhymes and genuine chuckle-inducing moments. When lazy Wallie the dog is unable to get dressed because of his big belly, his owner decides to help him get in shape. Wallie goes on a get-fit mission with Edwin the Exercise Elephant, learning about hydration, perseverance, being himself and of course, how much fun exercise can be. Silly exercise moves listed in the back and questions and answers make this an interactive book kids and parents alike will enjoy.

I can’t wait until my daughter stops ripping book pages because I’m sure Wallie Exercises will eventually be quite a hit.
