5. Bust through plateaus with pyramid training. What does Jackie Warner do when her body and fitness plateau? She does pyramid training! The concept of her new DVD, Personal Training With Jackie: 30 Day Fast Start (which we’ll be reviewing tomorrow!), pyramid training is how Jackie gets her body to tone up and burn fat even more than it already does (’cause have you seen those abs?!). With pyramid training, you do two to three exercises for different muscle groups where you count one rep and move up to 10 for a total of 55 reps. So, you’d do one push-up and one shoulder press. Then you’d do two push-ups and two shoulder presses—all the way up to 10. “With pyramid training you go to muscle failure and really shock your system,” she says. “Plus, it’s fun because you’re constantly counting reps. It’s very fluid.”
